Looking for a new pre-wax cleaner

M23Accord

Glorified cleaning lady
The few times I've found a need for pre-wax cleaner to cure oxidation, I've used Mother's. I like it but I suspect there is a better product out there. My main concerns are
1. Ease of use
2. Good oxidation removal
The only thing I need it for is oxidation. I have polishes and such for scratches so this is not a factor. Let me know what you guys like. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest a good chemical cleaner like Klasse All In One, Meguiar's Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner, or Poorboy's Professional Polish.

awd330,

Can you use those cleaners often (i.e. every 3 weeks) without a long term problem?
Well, I'm not sure why you would really need to use them that often. A car's finish shouldn't deteriorate that quickly. Every 3 months might be a better schedule. Maybe even only once a year on garage kept vehicles.

If you just feel like doing something with your finish every few weeks, add a fresh coat of carnauba wax or another layer of sealant.

:yeah I just got AIO and tried it on a red dually that had lots of oxidation and all I could say is WOW. This stuff is great.

awd330,

Actually, I've been experimenting with different products and wanted to make sure I didn't have mixed results because I didn't properly strip what is currently on the car.

Ahhh, now I understand the reason behind your question. :) I like to experiment with products too (that's an understatement :lol ). I don't know if I would use a cleaner every 3 weeks for the entire life of the car, but I haven't had any problems with using them periodically. When I try different product combos, I dedicate specific panels to the experiment. Let's say that I want to try 3 different processes. Instead of doing the whole car with one process, stripping down 3 weeks later for the second combo, then once again for the third combo, I just pick 3 panels and use one combo per panel. Less wear and tear on the paint this way, and I still get to experiment.

I used to experiment. Then I found Poorboys stuff. No more experimenting. I'm happy with what I got.

My problem is that I seem to think more is better. I keep dragging out the PC and the PP to see if I can get just a little more shine.....just a little more....just a smidge. I always see a little more...every time I go over it there's a little more shine. :cool :D ;)

Can you say ther-a-py? When I'm in the garage with the PC there is no more killing in the world.

Couldn't agree with you more. When I'm in the garage, the only thing I'm thinking about is getting that shine, not the 100 other things I need to get done.

JimS, hopefully I will reach your level of enlightenment and settle on certain products. I'm still on my journey.

Yes, but one can experiment using just Poorboy's products too -

- PwC, Natty's
- PwC, EX-P
- PwC, EX-P, Natty's
- PP, Natty's
- PP, EX-P
- PP, EX-P, Natty's
- SSR1, Natty's
- SSR1, EX-P
- SSR1, EX-P, Natty's

Replace EX-P with EX above, and repeat! :D

ahhhh ....but you forgot the EX and EX-P combo together...someone is trying it now...we'll wait for the report:D

I was actually thinking of trying pwc, natty's, exp ........dont ask me why :dunno just an idea

Yes. There is also the single coat versus multiple coats experiment, as well as the with/without QD+ experiment. So many combinations, and never enough car panels to work with. :lol

I'm sure I wouldn't be. I'm very pleased with the Spray and Wipe that I bought a few weeks ago. However, have you forgotten the crowd of products I've already got on my shelves? I need to just stick to what works for now I think. Unless Poorboy's is going to work even better than what I've already got then I really should use up my current supply first before diving into another system. I have heard good things about certian products though. I'm definitely going to have to get in on some of the non-paint related products. I think I'm good on paint care for now.

Klasse AIO is a tried and true product that has been around for many years. Sure it's not the only product on the market that will work but it has been one of the best for many years. Give it a try.

so you say - use a product more than say twice before buying something else? wow ... this could change so much for me ....
:lmfao
