Looking for a Mentor / NY Area

I'm looking to see if anyone is willing to mentor me in how to detail a car. I'm new to this and curretnly own a 2008 Infiniti G37S (that needs to have swirls removed). I learn best by watching and doing it hands on so I was hoping someone would like to meet up, have a couple of brews if you'd like, and just relax and detail. I live in the Nassau County area, but am willing to travel. I have no problem paying you for your time, and or supplies. Im figuring it it would work out best considering i need to detail my car to take out the swirls i have, we do that (of course i would pay you for this) and teach me at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G35stilez or jsatek considering ive talk to both of you already and seen your insane work hopefully we can work something out :2thumbs:

If brooklyn isnt to far then Ive got someone for you. Basically how I learned is I paid him to detail my car and he showed me how etc. Cool guy and did a super job on my lexus.

Maybe this would be a good op to have a CT/NY meet up? I would like to see jastek and g35stilez in action and hopefully learn a few things (if they would be okay with it).

I'll bring the beer and food. Lets try to choose a time when the weather is a bit warmer so we're not all standing in a crowded garage.

jsatek, lets us know if you and G35stilez are down and when is a good time cause i know you are both very busy. I'll bring whatever else is needed just lmk. Hopefully we cant work this all out and finally meet eachother

Is the shop really a option ? Tools, etc lying around. GM, Insurance, etc ?

Anyhow, a meet sounds pretty interesting. I've got some new toys coming in I can lug in as well........mytee, etc.

Yes my shop is an option. Its a huge shop that holds up to 25 - 30 cars. You wouldnt be covered under ins. if thats what your asking lol. Im a fleet mang. here and i have off on the weekends so using the shop on a sat. will be no prob. The only prob. i see is if there are alot of people in the shop it might give a bad impression from the GM here.

I can do the meet anywhere but if where looking at 5 or more people we might be better off picking a better place

I see. I meant will the GM let you in the garage due to *the company insurance. Since you're the fleet manager, I guess you're the boss ;-)

I am definitely interested in learning tips from the pro's. Let me know in advance so I can take off from work since I work the weekends and detail in the mornings.

well im right under the GM lol but lets see how many people we can get to do the meet and if its too many we might have to pick another spot

Lets see what Sean's availibility is. Im away this weekend. I'd do it. Get the cameras and an agenda ready.

Maybe bring the Mirka for some wet sanding?

Flex is sold. No plans for that.

Zaino

Menzrna

M105

ONr

Hot buttons anyone?

Like jsatek, I can bring menz, zaino, onr. I should have the DWG by then so i'll throw that in there. Weekends are usually the best option but I can work something out. I think we're going to have more than 5 people - if its cool, I can start a seperate thread about a CT/NY meet so everyone from the area can participate.

^ sounds good to me!!! If its more the 5 people then we should def. start thinking of a new place only cause i dont want to deal with the GM complaining. LMK what i should bring besides my car lol cause i have no supplies

What should I bring? I dont plan on doing any polishing on my car since I want to wait till end of spring / early summer. I would gain much more knowledge from watching people do it though.
