I am looking for a good wheel cleaner that is strong enough to take out tar and A LOT of road crap. My dad has a Lexus with chrome wheels that have not been taken care of and a lot of crap has accumulated on these wheels over time. Any suggestions? Thanks :xyxthumbs

Whats a good wheel cleaner for clear coated Alum wheels. I want something to get off all the mess on the inside of the wheel before i polish and wax them

I have had good luck with EF HI (diluted 1:1 with water), and Sonus Wheel Cleaner. P21S is supposedly very good and is used by many here on this forum, but clearly the answers you are getting is overwhelmingly A2Z, I would surmise because of availability everywhere and price.....

A good regimen for those dirty wheels, which my fellow Bimmer owner AMP99 taught me....

1) Clean the wheels with whatever cleaner you decide

2) Clay the wheels with your favorite clay (I used Mothers with the lubricant)

3) Then spray or wash off the residue with regular wash soap.

4) You can then polish and seal the wheels after drying if you like

:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs GOOD LUCK!!!

I was using P21S and spending a lot of cash, $16 bucks a bottle at my discount supply shop. After trying the Eagle 1 in the orange bottle I would say it 95% as good at half the cost. I still like the P21S better but the money could be better spent as least for me.

If you havent tried the E1 give it a shot

I use Mothers in the yellow bottle for my clear coated wheels. Works great. They make a cleaner in a red bottle for chrome wheels. It is very strong. Should do the trick.

ya'know ... you and 4DSC have me thinking now. I used P21S on my well-maintained Jag wheels and was thrilled. But then tried it on the '93 Benz (the beater) which has not been immaculately maintained, and was not thrilled; it took probably 8 oz + lots and lots of elbow grease .... and still wasn't cutting the mustard. I LOVE spending the children's inheritance on high-end products. But at the moment .... well ... I'm just not sure P21S is worth the extra $$ on a daily driver. :( How do the rest of you feel?
