Look at this shine!

I read all of those threads with great interest, and while the work is good, I don't know that it's that much better than a quality Autopian detailing job. BMW's do have a nice habbit of cleaning up very nicely, so if you spend some time on them and use some quality products, you can usually get great results.

I wonder if the 12-15 hours he spends on the car includes things like interior detailing and underhood detailing? He and I could have quite a "race" to see who would finish last... :D

Gotta love that blue on the M5, though. One of my all time favorite colors for any car.

Cars look good but the info on that detailer, Erich Lipinski, is more interesting. Sounds like he has quite the cult following in NY/NJ.

Yes, Erich has done mt M5 twice. He really is the best I've ever seen. It takes him 9-10 hrs to do a complete job.

Note: I have seen only a couple of pro detailers so........

My guess that what Geeky Steve says is 100% acurate.

Regards

Bruce

Lighting is everything in pictures. You can use it to hide swirls, imperfections and increase shine. Just note the last picture. You can see the car is covered with salt but look at the shine off the trunk and roof. Its all in the lighting. Which brings me to my conclusions, you can't tell jack from pictures!

Which is why its important to listen to what the customers say. If Bruce says this guys work is top notch, I believe him. Especially since he's a repeat customer. I think if the pics looked great but the car's didn't, Bruce would say so.

Always nice to see top quality work from other OCD detailers.

The real clue to his detailing prowess is in the fine details.

Look in the rear-view dirty pic and see his exhaust. No shine whatsoever. My exhaust is meticulously polished and even after a month of bad weather it still looks reasonable.

 :xyxthumbs

I'm just pointing out in general don't always trust pictures because you can hide stuff in them. I want the word of someone who has been around awhile like yourself. If I know the person who is saying, "Hey, this product/detailer" is really good, then I'm more likely to trust their opinion without having to see some pictures.

It also doesn't matter though if someone posts a lot of amazing pictures and I don't know them. I know what you can do with the camera. I need to know the person before I will accept their opinion.

AMEN to that! I agree 150% - I don't doubt for a second that Erich isn't "the man" - it's great to see that we're not the only obsessed bunch on the planet.

Hey, Bruce, any chance Erich would want to join fellow junkies here at autopia?

The cars you see are two different cars. Note the names on the threads.

The impressive one is RAREM5'S car, in Florida. The other one is in Mikes in New Jersey

very impressive. Though i'm sure the quality of paint makes a big difference too... i don't think my civic would still be looking that good after 40 washes. His paint just as it is w/o wax probably looks pretty impressive. Somehow i don't think an M5 would have crappy cheap paint.

Bretfaz,

I never said this was Erichs work. Neither of theses cars are Erich Lipinskis work. He has done my car twice and I hire him in a minute again.

The shiney car, RAREM5'S, is his own creation using Souveran. Erich is a strict Zaino man! He's all about the prep work.

He spends hours preping the finish first. Then and only then does he apply Z1-Z2. When he's done it's a masterpiece.

Sorry for any confusion

Bruce

I'll send him the link and get him involved. He's a teacher full time. Detailing, and only BMW's, is his passion/obsession.
