Is that the Maybach 57 or the 62? I remember seeing the interior of the 62 (6.2 meters long) and you could fit a d*mn ottoman in the front of the backseat if you wanted!

That's an awesome car...but I think it costs a bit more than a college student can afford. :(

But...I seem to recall that it's made by Chrysler (I may be wrong) , and I'm not a fan of Chrysler products, so I'd pass on it.

Well, you know how they pronounce Daimler-Chrysler in German, don't you?

It's "Daimler." (The Chrysler is silent...)

The 57/62 weigh 6017/6281 lbs. respectively.

Try over 3 tonnes. NOW it's amazing how fast it is:shocked

What are the Brabus mods? Performance? Interior? (I did note a B on the rear headrests) Exterior?

I'm not familiar with the stock info on the Maybach., and haven't heard of Brabus. But the Maybach is a hot looking car and the pics above are really nice.

For half the price, I prefer the new Bentley Continental GT.

Maybachs are boring, I see them around town every day. Just a glorified taxi, is all it is. ;)

Where the heck do you live that you see Maybachs everyday???? THe only one I have seen is at teh NAIAS auto show in Detroit. But I guess theres not much use for a car like that in the 'burbs. Still that is an amazing car. Id love to won one, but I prefer to drive instead of ride so I would probably go for a M5, 760 or one of the S-class AMG Mercedes.

Brabus is a tuner for MB and they specialize in fully built engines but do offer piece by piece add ons. On this car from what I can see, the screens in the rear are larger, the wheel and tire package also larger, front and rear bumpers and some healthy engine programming at the least. This also appears to be a "57" as it doesn't have the reclining seats in the rear with the footrests. It also seems to be missing the divider in the middle that comes in the "62" but that could also be optional.

I saw a Maybach at the Atlanta Auto Show. It was so nice I would have thought it not possible to enhance. I guess I was wrong. The craftmanship on these cars is terrific but they cost almost as much as my house.

The paint quality is terrific I might add and I like the two tone paint common on the brand.

0-100kph in less than 5 seconds from 6000+lbs barge (certainly a very, very nice barge)?

I'll believe that when a reliable third party actually measures it.

PC.

The Maybach is an amazing car, I sat in one at the Benz dealer in Bethesda when we were looking at...ahm a more modest Benz for my fiancee (the C class hatchback). The interior is totally unreal.

BUT, I have seen several on the roads around here and they don't have a lot of road presense. They look like another Mercedes or even a less expensive car from the rear, as opposed to something like a Rolls or Bentley that is instantly recognizable for the coin. Its a sleeper though, and a lot of people are into that even at that price point. The Four Seasons in Georgetown just took delivery of two for ferrying around clients I walked by as they were being looked at in the driveway.

Saw a couple of regular Maybach's when I was in NYC last week. I agree with Steve, they don't have much road presence apart from the length, but I guess the fact that they are quite discreet is why people buy them. Not everyone likes to make an entrance.

Now the silver/black Rolls Phantom that was on 5th Avenue is definitely not discreet :D

Cheers,

Alex
