Long Haul degreaser

Today I bought this stuff at PepBoys for half price. $3.50 for a 28 ounce bottle. Long Haul degreaser/bug remover. It looks kind of redneck and gimmicky, but it seems to work pretty good on what few bugs were on the front of my truck. I haven't gotten to really test it yet because all my vehicles are so clean. ;) I'm pretty sure that this stuff will remove any wax that's on your paint. I'll probably just use it on the engine and wheel wells. I drove through some Mulberrys today, so I'll see how well this stuff cleans my wheel wells.

Has anybody tried any of this Long Haul brand of products?

i also use the LH truck degreaser/bug remover and find it a great product! scottwax uses it too, as well as the truck polish/wax...

Then maybe I should go buy a few more bottles. $3.50 is pretty good for 28 ounces.

And am I right in the assumption that it will remove wax?

Yeah, I agree with you on the scent. It's certainly not made by PoorBoys.

I did a detail job today with PBs products and it was making me so hungry. The Wheel Sealant especially.

It's only $3 at Big Lots. I think Long Haul wax is $4. A lot cheaper than the $14 bucks that I paid a few months back.

I was just about to post this good deal, I picked up the bug/tar remover today when I was looking for some wd-40, has anyone had good luck with this product removing tar? And also, any opinions on the tire shine and polish, is it worth picking up any of these products?

i've used this on some medium tar build-up/tire sling and it worked awesome. this is probably the best bug & tar remover i've used thus far out of all the handful i've tried (tarminator, TW, etc). i've yet to see it at my local big lots, but if they have it for only $3-$4, i'm going to buy a few...

Does anyone know why their products are all going for so cheap now at all these stores? Are they going away or revamping their line up?

Probably going away. Really good OTC products but a horrible marketing campaign.

I e-mailed Long Haul when I first saw their products at Pep Boys and picked up a bottle of the QD since it was only $5 and to my suprise, it smelled, looked and worked exactly like the Race Glaze QD I had received a sample of. I asked them if the products were the same and I got an e-mail back requesting I call the owner of the company. I gave him a call and he confirmed (but wouldn't do it in writing) that he and the owner of Race Glaze developed the QD and other products but split on how to market the products. Race Glaze went the boutique route, he wanted to go retail. I think marketing soley to truck owners was a huge mistake.

Anyway, if they have their stuff at Big Lots now, I am going to snag another bottle of the polish/wax (nice one step product), the QD and degreaser. :)

My local Big Lots didn't have any LH stuff, but I did get a good deal on a few Meguiars brushes. A tire/wheel brush and a stiff interior carpet brush. They also had Endurance Tire Gel (non-glossy), which is hard to find off the shelf. Most car parts stores around here only have the glossy type.

how does the truck gloss qd stack up compared to the others (eo, megs, mothers, tw, etc..)? i was thinking about picking up a bottle and for only $3 for a 28oz bottle, is one heck of a deal!

I was about to post about the LH products in the Good Deals section but decided to do a search for. Glad I did as I was in Big Lots yesterday and they had the Degreaser, QD, Tire Dressing and Wax/Polish. The first three are $3 and the wax/polish is $5. I was wondering if this was stock from Pep Boys as that's the only store I'd heard of it being at. You can't beat the price for 28 oz., I hope they have some left when I'm by again.

They also had quite a few of the Meg's brushes left and some bottles of the Endurance dressing. I opened the one I bought a month ago and it has separated. I've shook it but it is still watery and the silicone sludge must be at the bottom. Kind of disappointed but will try shaking it some more.

i doubt it. it's probably new/mass overstock bought from LH at liquidated prices as they weren't selling to well (bad marketing) as scottwax stated. this is the case probably for many of the items sold there..

I think you must be right. The bottles were all in perfect condition and look like they were just unboxed. I hope Long Haul continues to make their products, they certainly seem decent.

well... went to big lots today and picked up a bottle of the truck gloss qd, and another truck bug/tar degreaser (going to use the truck gloss qd this weekend and decide if i like it enough to purchase more). for a huge 28oz bottle for only $3 each, it's a great deal! :up

well, washed the car today and got around to using the truck gloss qd, and i must say it's pretty nice. it left the finish nice and slick and for a huge bottle at only $3 (considering most qd's are $4.99+), i think i'll buy a few more bottles before they're gone...

p.s. i tried calling the 888 number on the back of the bottle and also tried e-mailing them, and the number is no longer in service and the e-mail came back to me. it looks as though they're (long haul) through...

Aside from Race Glaze - Can anyone campare this QD to anything else? Does it contain nuba or is it synthetic. What about cleaning ability compared with shine ability. I'm thinking about picking up a few bottles at that price.

As for the Degreaser - What do you think about using it as a engine cleaner/degreaser. Will it harm any of the plastics or metals? Says its citrus based.

Thanks for the replys.

I too am interested in hearing more about the Truck Degreaser/Bug Remover. I smelled it at Big Lots and decided to pass...was a little too PD-smelling. Would be great for a bug prewash as they suggest on their site (www.long-haul.com) if it didn't take the LSP with it...or maybe even if it did an a car you were going to polish or reapply...I guess I would really like to know if it's water soluble, that is, if I use it as a prewash, can I rinse/wash and not leave anything behind from it.
