Location use of wash mitt?

Why not plenty of mitts for the QEW? I understand whatever works for you, but I was just curious.

I like using MFs because you can use so many different parts of the MF. Folded into 1/4s, you have 8 surfaces to work with before it's necessary to rinse it. Rinsing takes valuable time when you're racing against time to avoid ice on the car. 8 surfaces allows me to make sure the area is clean for the drying step, and allows me to work quickly.

I may have to try using mitts during the warmer months though.

What types of MF's do you use? I.e. waffle weave, plush terry weave, etc.

Accumulator's the king of washing

My car never gets any grime on the lower panels. The dirtiest it gets is just dusty and with at least six coats of sealant on it at any given time, rain flies off leaving it clean and dry.

2 mitts at the moment (1 in each mitt cleaning water bucket) - sonus and aquatouch but next wash will be four and moving from three buckets to four (2 x shampoo, 2 x water)

After that I'll probably go five buckets

Sure my car ain't as marr free as accumulator's but it's awesome for an 8 year old car

haven't seen another car in better or as good condition

usually takes me 45 mins to pressure rinse and shampoo

Don't care how long it takes, it's enjoyable with the scent of 1Z perls and four star from the bucket

(warm water with at least 2 litres of purified water)

For best results on highly polished and sealed paintwork - do not use any pressure with the mitts, glide the mitts over gently

3 mitts : 1 for the top, 1 for the top halves of the sides and 1 for the lower halves of the sides.

1 wheel brush

1 "mink" brush for the grille and head / tail lights.

One bucket of shampoo-water solution for the top, 1 for the upper halves of the sides, 1 for the lower halves, this bucket containing a higher concentration of shampoo, with half a cup of QD added and 1 for the grille, head and tail lights; this one a half bucket with a normal ratio of shampoo and water. Wheel spray and bug and tar remover used before a very strong concentration of shampoo mixed for the wheels and tyres. All in all it makes 5 buckets...

In all buckets luke warm water is used. The shampoo tells me to use two caps per bucket for normal and 3 to 4 caps for heavy grime. For the wheels I use 6 caps...

now that's a thorough wash method - will try that

Where will it end - 7 buckets , 8 wash mitts - who knows

I use 4-5 mitts per wash, sometimes more when I go a whole week between washings. I have the same mindframe as bill d and accumulator, its easier and safer to grab a new mitt than worry about rinsing an old one out really well. I wash with a foam gun also so that helps.

Yeah, that's how many I use too but I do it a little differently. One rinse-only bucket for the wheels/tires/wheelwells/undercarriage, one shampoo and one rinse bucket for each side of the vehicle. That's in addition to a foamgun for each side.
