Local Collinite Distributors

I noticed that my area has a few Collinite vendors/distributors, but it left me curious. Will a distributor sell retail? (like to the general public)

I am in Nassau County, Long Island BTW.

Hey, I'm in Nassau County, Long Island also :) I don't know if they sell Collinite locally. I would definitely love to buy locally, it would most likely be much cheaper. If you're looking to buy online, however, you can look at Detailing supplies for the marine and automotive industries from MacTec $14.25 for 476S including shipping. If you are ordering from Autogeek, they have it ffor $12.50. If you are ordering other things, even with the shipping, it may be somewhat cheaper.

Basically any boating/marine type shop will have Collinite Products, at least that's how it is in South Florida, then again we're the boating capital of the world so......

I picked 845 and 915 up at a Marine store here. Otherwise you'll have to order online, AutoGeek has the full line at great prices.

Long Island ought to have plenty of boat shops...there you go!

Yeah, thankfully I'm 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean so we have quite a few that carry Collinite. Now the only problem is their closing for the holidays!

BTW - If you are from Long Island, go to Collinites website and it will give you some stores which carry their products. A few are in Freeport, one in Amityville.

Try shaking it up vigorously... and I mean vigorously. Maybe subject it too some heat also. This will heat up the 845 and let it return to the liquid form. BTW, how much did you spend on the Collinite and where did you buy it? I may be interested in getting some locally after my tin of 476S is used up.

Was $15 even at Paul's Distributors Detailing Products in Freeport, Long Island.

There are a few other places that carry Collinite in the Freeport area as well.

The guy told me the 845 is different and the cracked pasty appearance is normal. I shook it up a little and now it just looks like tomato paste when I open the cap.

Is it possible for htis wax to "go bad" or expire in storage?

EDIT: Ok lol, I shook this thing like a mad man, and its consistency is kind of like motor oil or egg nog. I didn't use any wax.

That seems about normal, might have been sitting for awhile and seperated. Highly doubt it went bad. Haven't really used my 845 but really like 915, gives a great wet reflective look to light/flakey colors.

Yeah, I'm guessing if the waxes are not shaken for a while they tend to seperate. The liquid ends up on the bottom and the paste rises to the top. I guess thats what happened. I don't think waxes can go bad but how can you tell? BTW, is 845 supposed to have a seal on it?

Freeport Marine Supply has Marine Collinite products. The Fiberglass Boat Wax (No. 925) is the exact same thing as the insulator wax. I picked up a bottle a few months back. Definitely shake it a lot before use :) I don't think there was a seal on top.

Yup, only problem is they are closed till like Jan 10th or 15th for the holidays!

BMW,

The consistency of 845 is thin, watery when shaken. Later, it will revert back to its unmolested state, which is a thick, almost unmovable paste. When you encounter this, shake very vigorously. It will suddenly turn to liquidy again.

Your 845 seems perfectly OK.

AH yes Collinate, I like their paste waxes 915 Marque and 476 double coat these two are very durable waxes ans easy to put on and take off.

Both of the Advance Auto stores in my area carry 845. It's about $12. Most Advance stores have a VERY small marine products section, usually in a corner, and that's where you'll find it.
