Local Body Shops

BMW of Fairfax does really nice work (basically independent from the dealership) They have a Top Notch Body Shop and Paint Shop. I know alot of the guys there personally and I have seen their work first hand. They work on all makes and models and are one of the few shops that can work with Aluminum panels.

I have to disagree with you from an experience, I had them do a white X5 for me

and they did such a ****** job, tdkeny worked on the car and seen what they have done,

he had to wet sand it to bring at as close as possible to the already crappy OEM paint job,

his free to comment on that. not only that but also they did a worser job on a friend Alpina 760 as will.

The best body shop I have used lately is First Choice body shop in Arlington,

as soon as you stop by you will see Ferrari's and Porsche's twin turbos and such,

lots of high-end BMW's as will. top quality to say the least but at a price.

BMW of Fairfax can really do the aluminum panels job. My friend is looking for a local body shop to get his car pimped and I suggested that he try Fairfax to get the body parts and paint done excellently.

In addition to Thomas recommendation, check out D&V Auto Body in Chantilly.

I agree, just had some work done by them, they were fairly good. The paint work was top notch, the attention to detail was about 90%. For autopian standards, D&V is well above average.

Some other shops to consider are Spectrum and Browns Autobody.

I will check them out tomorrow at lunchtime as they are close to my office in Dulles. I really don't want to spend more than $400 on a respray of my front bumper. I wonder if this is in the realm of possibilities!

With quality, comes a price...not sure if $400 will do it, but I guess we will see.

I got a quote from them for $895. Probably the highest estimate for a front bumper respray I have ever gotten on any car.

I have no doubts that that shop does great work, and they were very professional. However, since I'm probably going to pay out of pocket, I probably won't use them at that price.

2006 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas.

I understand that there are a lot of bits to remove (headlamps, washers, air dam, fog lamps, etc.), but the quote still seems a little bit high.

Well, I figured out it's pretty easy for me to remove the front bumper. I wonder if I sand the paint off down to the plastic how much a good shop would charge just to prime and paint it. Surely it couldn't be more than $200-300.
