I'd like to see this thread turn into a reference for these types of LSP's. I'll try to add them to this first post as you list them.

Collinite 845 is one I've read is ok on trim if wiped off before dry.

How about sealants too?

+1 on Ron's suggestion of FastFinish :xyxthumbs I simply love it on trim!

KSG works great for me (over KAIO) and is probably my #1 choice [NO NO NO...sheesh, that's wrong, see EDIT below :o ]. I also like to refresh it now and then with Sonus Acrylic Spritz but after each wash I usually just go over it with FastFinish. W-O-W-O, don't let it dry completely (not a huge deal if you do as long as you apply nice and thin), fog with your breath while buffing.

I've used FK1000P on the black plastic/rubber trim of a GMC Yukon XLD, but you gotta do it right and eh,....I guess it's in the "don't try this at home, kids!" category. Worked nicely for me though.

I've used Collinite 476S on the black plastic/rubber trim of an old-school Volvo 245 wagon, but [repeat "don't try this at home, kids!" advice].

I've used BF (their older All Finish Paint Protection) before with no issues that I can recall.

EDIT: Gee, how could I forget Sonus's Ultimate Trim Guard Plus (I think that's the name, got it years ago)?!? I have that on all the exterior trim on the Crown Vics and it's working great. Again, spritz with FastFinish after ever wash. Can't believe I didn't think of it first, but then I hardly ever have to redo those cars...

Optimum Car Wax is great on everything. Opti-Coat is too.

I wonder if OptiSeal is ok on plastic trim?

Yup, Opti-Seal is safe for plastics too. It darkens them a bit, but the effect doesn't last too much.

I just used Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer tonight on my girlfriend's Altima. I used it as a quick detailer and went ahead and used it on the plastic trim too. It looked great.

That stuff has to have some Optimum Car Wax properties in it the way it goes on a little greasy looking until it dries perfectly streak free. I'm wondering if it provides a little more protection than your average detail spray?

That is a great site! I saw the information is very usefule!

Ultima Paint Guard Plus is absolutely safe on trim and plastic. Because of it's ease of use (wipe one/walk away), and because it can be used on everything (paint, cladding, trim, metal) it's probably my favorite synthetic sealant.

Meguiar's ultimate paste wax, pinnacle souveran liquid wax, 3D express wax.

Note... don't let the souveran dry. I have never let it dry but if you get it on trim while still drying it does not stain.

Yeah, that's another one I forgot! Sheesh, been too long since I had the XJS out, never even thought of it....

I've been using Sӧuveran on the Jag's black plastic/rubber trim since around 1990 (and I used Malm's liquid wax on it before that). People said :nono about using it on the rubber..."it'll degrade it because of the petroleum distillates!" but after all this time no such problem at all.

Oh, and just FWIW, while I do use the W-O-W-O approach with Sӧuveran on the trim, on paint I let it haze over before buffing it off and it works just fine for me (Mike Phillips challenged me to try it and, like all his advice, it worked out great). I even experimented with letting it set up for *3 hours* once, and it buffed off easy as could be. Gotta do the thin thin thin application though. I get better durability out of it this way; otherwise that car's engine heat makes me redo the hood/bonnet at ever wash (now it's more like every other wash, but hey...I'll take the diff).

I use 476s on all trim now that I learned to use it better, wipe on and wipe off. Never stained anything with it and it beads for a respectable amount of time for me.

Did you notice things looking *really* bad once the 476S has died/needs redone? That was the one thing I didn't really like about it, but it wasn't enough of an issue for me to give up on the approach.

Meguiar's ultimate paste wax,

Megs state Ultimate paste in NOT trim-friendly, whereas, the liquid is fine.

I've gotten the paste on trim but wiped it off immediately and it was ok. I suspect that if you let it haze it will stain.
