Liquid wax?

I am using pinnacle liquid souveran and sig. series II. I just started using pinnacle liquid souveran spray wax. My car is only driven in nice wx and always garaged. My question is, can I go four months between waxes if I use spray wax after every wash? I have been waxing every 2-3 months and would like to only wax 3 times a year. Thanks.

What exactly are your concerns? You can wax your car once a year if you really want to. Anything with a clearcoat has pleanty of protection. (Not perfect protection but still) So if that's your concern I would say yes you can easily cut back to 3 times a year and be safe. Now if your after ulitmate shine then your talking about your own personal preference. I know people that wax once a week and I know people that wax once a year. (I also know people that wouldn't know what wax is if it bit them in the butt. But that's another story LOL) All happy with current results.

Yea, I think that with a durable spray wax (I'm assuming liquid souveran is durable?) you can definitely go 4 months. Of course, Pinnacle products produce more of a boutique look. If you are looking for durability (and quite nice looks as well), you could go for more durable products such as Zaino, Duragloss, Collinite, etc.

Jakerooni, do you mean that a clearcoat can take the place of the protection from the wax? If that's what you're saying, I'll have to respectably disagree. Without protection from wax, the clearcoat will degrade at a faster rate. Waxing is not all about the "ultimate shine", but also about protection against the elements.

I think waxing three times a year and using spray wax after washes should be adequate protection. However, I would definitely not wax only once a year if you want your paint to last you for the life of the car. I have seen too many cars with out adequate protection have major paint failure. In my experience Clear Cote paint has no more protection then Single Stage, other then UV protection.

Thanks for the quick replies. I just want to cut down on the time spent detailing but, I also want to maintain a great shine/look. I am happy thus far with the pinn. spray wax. Not sure how much protection it privides. I will post my opinion on durability after I have used it for six months or so. Thanks again.

Again, if you are more worried about durability, I would probably recommend that you switch to another line of products which provide slightly less in terms of looks, but a lot more when it comes to durability. DG 105, Collinite 845, and the Zaino products can last around 6 months with no additional spray wax or whatnot.

I have been really happy with pinnacle products. Used them for six years now. I have considered Collinite though.

Ahhh Don't assume to much there. Where's the need for a trailer queen that doesn't see the elements. Or a side toy that only gets driven a couple times a year. Certian situations only call for very limited upkeep. Just like the other end where some guy is out there relgiously on saturdays every week putting a fresh coat of 6 month carnuba on there. Overkill??? Probably. But if he's a 100mile a day commuter maybe not then. (been there done that hated it)

But I agree with the sound advise. If it's durability your looking for simply switch to a more durable product.

Ah I see what you mean now. It's just that I was mislead by your statement, "Anything with clearcoat has plenty of protection". Gotcha!

I tell my clients that 3 times a year is the minimum recommended frequency for applying protection. But then again I usually use something more durable than LS.

If you are applying a spray wax after every wash, it will definitely help extend the protection.

Really depends on the elements your car is exposed to.

You could use a little AquaWax after every other wash. That would be better than the spray wax you're using in terms of durability.
