liquid glass then wax?

I used liquid glass wash, then liquid glass pre-cleaner, then 2 coats of liquid glass polish/finish on my new honda element this past weekend. i am enjoying the results but am wondering if i didnt stop one step short of acheiving my best finish. is a layer of wax on top of the liquid glass beneficial?
 
I've used Liquid Glass polish/finish before and really like the product. As I've said many times before, for the amount of effort, it gives great results. You can go ahead and put a coat of wax ontop of the Liquid Glass but I don't think you'll see any difference at all in the finish.



Since you've got a new vehicle, then it'll be easy for you to just keep up with maintaining it and it'll easily stay looking new.
 
I've used Liquid Glass as my sealant step for some time, and I really like it. Much like the other sealants recommended and used on this board, it has great durability, layerability and nice reflectivity.



To add the look of depth and "liquidity" I like, I have normally topped it with S100, as others do when using sealants such as Klasse SG, NXT, and even Zaino. Personally, I think I do see a difference. Try it, but be sure to use a pure wax such as S100/P21S or Megs #16, so as to avoid any cleaners. Looks great!
 
Cool, I think I'll try the Megs #16 as it doesn't break the bank. I've never used it though, will it break my arm?

For my routinue with this car (mind you I'm new to the serious detailing) I was planning on washing weekly with Liquid Glass Wash, reapplying the sealant every 2 months, and waxing monthly. Any critiques or suggestions would be much, much appreciated.
 
If yu wax monthly and dont induce to many swirls with washing, your LG will last longer than 2 months, I would say more like 6 months without issues. The wax will take the punishment and not the LG so it should stay intact without issues, as long as you keep the wax layer in place and Megs #16 is quite a durable wax. Megs #16 is ok to apply, just be sure that you dont take it off too early and you'll be fine.

And Im not sure what the LG wash is like on a wax, that might be something to investigate.
 
#16 is only a dollar or two less than S-100, and may be more difficult both to find and to apply. It's certainly worth the effort to do both, but you can pick up the S-100 at any Harley dealership for just under $15, and it is unbelieveably easy to use.



As for your plan of attack, it sounds good, for now. I think that once you hang around this board for a while, you'll probably want to try some other things, once the LG supply runs out (or even before). For example, I'm not sure what LG wash or pre-cleaner cost and, though I'm sure they're good, there are many other excellent washes and several excellent paint cleaners that might be easier to find or use, and may even be cheaper. Some of the other products might even give you results that you find you like better. And as for the LG itself, after time on this board, you'll probably (like me) want to try out some Klasse, or Blackfire, or Wolfgang, or some other boutique product with a cool name.



Eventually, you'll also probably want (or need) to add an actual polish step, to deal with minor swirls or scratches that arise (but you should definitely be taking steps to avoid this, by using the proper wash methods).



Anyway....stick around for a while and all this will be ingrained in your brain....and emptying your wallet. :up

Before applying another layer of LG (around 5 or 6 months) would I have to take off the wax? If so, whats a good way to do this.

No kidding. Its very intimidating just starting out not knowing what y'all are talking about, especially since your shorthand is using numbers! But I'll get there. Thanks for your excellent reply, very accomodating for a newbie.

The LG pre-cleaner *should* take it off no worries. But I get a feeling you'll be stripping it back with a PC and polish some time soon ;) :xyxthumbs
