So why do European finishes react differently?

You know, I have seen information like this passed around for years. I have no idea where they get this information or why they would think it's important.



Two things,



1) Meguiar's works with paint manufactures and the car manufactures that spray these paints around the world, here's at least a partial list,



Leading automotive paint manufactures,

Looking at the lists above, I'm just not exactly sure how they can make a statement like they did?



From my own experience, I have never detailed a car that the finish reacted in any negative way. :nixweiss



Could be their way of building in some insurance in case the customer gets bad results?

Larry at Car Care Online will swear to you that Klasse will ruin your german paint. "thats why I wont sell it" is his usual repsonse





I was at a gathering where I would guess there were 30 or so BMW's with Klasse and not one looked cloudy to me?



Larry also believes that MF and Clay are the devils tools. Cool place to pick up some products but a horrible place for advice.

Falcon, that's pretty funny and true. Larry certainly does have his biases. I too have heard him bad-mouth Klasse. I don't know what the basis for his statements are.

Lots of suds with 00? It doesn't sud! That's the point of it! No? Come to my home with hard water and try to get a 1/2 oz. of 00 to sud! :lol

A biodegradable car wash soap that contains glossing agents and will not strip wax. Rinses easily and does not leave a film or residue, but does leave a protective wax coating on the finish. Wash one section of the car at a time, rinsing the area completely before continuing onto another section. Do not allow the soap to dry on the car. Works well on American and Japanese paint.



Works well on American and Japanese paint??!! What's that about? I've used 10 different car washes on modern automotive finishes from numerous car manufacturers and have found that none of them "work better" on one type compared to another type of manufacturer.



Here's another one from the site:



3M Show Car Paste Wax - 10.5 oz Can



Shines and protects freshly cleaned paint, producing a high-gloss, durable “wet look� finish. Contains both Carnauba wax and fluropolymers to produce a durable finish. May be applied by hand or slow speed buffer using a closed cell foam polishing pad. For best results, apply to a small area and immediately buff out, otherwise the wax residue may be somewhat difficult to remove.

May cause slight clouding on certain European paints.



Slight clouding? When I first started detailing, I used this on all sorts of European paint including numerous times on my former 1986 and 1992 Saab with ZERO issues. In fact I let it dry before I buffed disregarding his wax and buff immediately suggestion.



He loves these flannel clothes and "Detailers Choice" products. The cheesey discount store near me sells this stuff for peanuts. I wouldn't go near them except to use for grunge work!



I can go on and on with his examples.
