I got the wifes beater and my Lightning ready for winter this weekend. It was nearly 50* out so I had to take advantage. So now all the cars that might be out are ready for winter.

Lightning:

This truck was in excellent condition, just polished and S100'ed 6 weeks ago. Only 9500 miles and babied.

NXT wash

Collinite 476s by PC with gray pad on 6 (removed with MF under PC

NXT wash

Megs overspray clay

DACP by PC and 6 with yellow pad

AIO by PC on 6 with white pad

Collinite 476s by PC on 4 with grey pad

Wow seems like you polished that lightning very well cause the paint looks wet. How do you like the look of 476S? I applied it by hand and it seemed pretty dang easy. Nice pics

That Lightning looks awesome!!! What did you use on your bed cover as a dressing? Does it run in the rain? I can't find anything that wont run on mine... maybe I just don't buff it out enough? :nixweiss Thanks in advance and again, nice work

Try Vinylex.... Good for all interior and exterior rubber and plastics. Lasted on my L's exterior 6 months in Houston's heat and humidity - driveway parked 7 x 24 x 52.

Thanks guys. The Lightning was polished about 6 weeks ago with SFP, AIO and S100. So all it needed was a wash and wax. It should be in storage this winter, but theres a chance it might not, so thats why I used collinite. Really the collinite has a nice deep, wet look in my experience. It looks really nice on solid colors, but does mute metallics a tiny bit.

I use 303 on the exterior trim and bed cover. It doesnt run and isnt super shiney / greasy. I have Vynilex and absolutley hate it! It have only used on interiors though. It seems shiny and greasy and can be a bit uneven if you arent careful. Not like #40 and 303 which are easy on products. I recently made the switch from #40 to 303.

9500 miles on an '02 L - simply amazing! Where do you find the will power NOT to drive it?. Looks like you are creating an "investment vehicle".

Awesome job on the paint!

The Lightening looks great, as does the Pontiac. I'm using it on silver metallic & I think it looks even better on darker colors.

Very consistent with my Collinite results. Wet & glossy, very slick to touch.

If Collinite is not a "for looks" type wax, then I'm missing something. If the surface is prepped properly, Collinite goes on easy & residue comes off pretty easy if you do a panel at a time.

Do you think using a MF towel under a PC to remove #476 has anything to do with it?

I agree. Looks like Collinite is starting to get the attention it deserves. I just recently purchased Insulator wax and couldn't be more pleased with it. Very easy to use and looks great.

I think people get caught in the fact that it is very durable so it cant look as good as some of the more expensive "show car" LSP's out there. Sure it doesnt smell pretty, or have fancy packaging, but overall it is a great product line.

I like removing my LSP's with a Mf under the foam pad on the PC. It is easier to do and I think you get a bit more buffing action then you would by hand. Its also a more even process, so less chance of streaks or scratches IMO.

On the GP, did I mention the paint was so bad that even after washing, claying, and DACP I was still getting crap off the paint with the AIO??!!??

Gonzo did my Lightning this weekend as well, but not the wife's GTP. Seems like we have similar tastes in vehicles. :)

Black is such a pain, but so worth it when it's shining. We traded our 2001 Black GTP for a Polo Green 2004 GTP, and the metallic flake is awesome when polished.

btw - Nice looking rides!!

CHuck P--we look forward to your report on the wife's cars's longevity, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and will be well into 05 with no deteroration--really handles the salt well.

I'm hoping for another weather window to do my daily driver.
