I dawned washed her late yesterday afternoon to start the detailing. Afterwards, it looked like it might start raining so I pulled her into the garage to start the treatment. I planned on #9 to remove some small swirls and scratches, but after looking her over in preparation couldn't really see anything, so I jumped right to AIO. After AIO, we had to go somewhere so I called it a night.



This morning I pull her outside and I see the swirls and scratches in the sunlight, but #9 says to use in the shade. When I pulled her back into the shade, all the swirls disappear again. Ugh. How am I supposed to see what the heck is going on?



I've got flourescent lights in the garage and I have also tried a halogen spotlight, but nothing makes it look like it does in the sunlight. Any ideas?
 
Go down to the hardware store and get yourself one of the dual-head, quartz-halogen work lamps on a tripod. They are really cheap - I've seen 'em as low as 19.95 and I paid about $30 for mine. check out this site for a demonstration: How to light your car

I just bought one on sale yesterday for $30 Cdn at Canadian Tire. That's the cheapest I've seen it for a 2x500w lamp. It doesn't say on the box, but it goes up to 6 Feet tall.



Besides letting me work in the carport better, I'm sure it'll have various other uses in the summer months. :xyxthumbs

Although I am sitting here laughing as I read your post redboxster. I can just imagine the look on my girl's face if I asked here to come home so I could get some lights for detailing. That classic excuse me look only women seem to be able to do. While they strare at us and think that we need help. Ahh too funny. :D
