Thumbs up for Wally !

I had a call from a local Carwash if I would come to see one of their "polished" cars.

They offer a polish service beside the "American Softwash System", :LOLOL

We all know that car-wash-tunnels will scratch the hell out of cars, but detailing in Belgium is as popular as Micro-Nuclear-Partikel-Cellular-biologics....

They had a black Mercedes, and the owner complaint after three attempts to "clean up" the exterior of the car...

I saw the car today and it was Swirl City, Marrying, Haze, even burnt paint on the lower parts of the bumper !!!!

A few months ago I offered my service (for a small fee, in my spare time) to detail cars for them. Not expensive cars but mostly used cars from car-dealers that have to be cleaned after part exchange for a new car, just to get used to my rotary and to build up some experience...

(As I don't want to ruin a 100.000 $ car.... :grinno: )

They send me home with the explaination that I better learn to detail on my own car and scrap panels because, I quote : "We offer expert service at a certain price, with top of the line products and expert craftsmen".

In reality, they have a rotary, fully covered in splattered polish, a few caked pads and some unidentified botlles from Autoglym with SRP and some other brands..., and a young guy will do the "details" after his schooltime.

Now it's my time to set the standard and show them how it has to be done, I use my rotary for 6-8 months now, without problems, I have an orbital "at loan" from my friend in the bodyshop and have enough products to show them a cake or two.

Last weekend I did my own car : http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63880

And in total I did about 25-30 cars, from litlle Fords and Mazda's to 911 Turbo and a SL 65 AMG

I'm very curious how this will turn out, I have an appointement on friday morning to rescue the car and probably the good name from the Carwash...

SL65????!!!! :angry :angry I AM SOOO JEALOUS!!! now that there is a car. and that isn't a 100k car... its a 185k car STOCK!! i would let you have your way with my girl for a day if i can drive that for an hour... don't mess up! and don't punk on little kids detailing. i started detailing at 16 and personally, i think im pretty good.

As planned, I went to the car-wash to save theml from an angry owner.

I spoke to them in advance because in no way, I wanted that the owner would see me (for now, I don't want to have any connection with that car-wash)

The car was, as already told, in a horrible state.

I put 5 hours of work into the exterior :

  • - clayed the entire car
  • - Used my rotary with different SFX and DAS pads, with Sonus 1-2-3, DACP#83 and Autoglym SRP, all on different speeds between 1000-1500...
  • - Used AG trimrestorer to remove old wax and other alien substances
  • - Wetsand the roof, the previous "detailer" was probably too lazy to use a step and made more scratches then removing them, :grinno:
  • - Use Klasse SG and Swissol Samurai was as protection

Then I decided to wiat for the owner and instal myself into the waiting room pretending like I was a customer, remember, I do this as a hobby...

When the owner entered he almost cried it out, his car had never seen so black in 3 years of ownership !

When he rolled the car out, I saw some very litlle hologramming on the doors, almost unnoticable for a normal person.

He had 2 other cars and wanted to have them like his Benz, so I expect a phone cal from a certain car-wash !

I accepted no money, instead I receive a "key" for unlimited use self-wash (pressure, vacuum, carpetcleaner...) and I could refill my AG products from the 5 gallon canisters they had !!

Sounds like a good deal to me....

lnkprksoldier,

No problem to arrange a SL65 for you, also a F430 or a Porsche GT2 (the real one, with pop nails on the fender).

Those cars belong to people I lnow very well, I clean/wax them on a regulary base...

Just take the airplane to Brussels International Airport and I pick you up, preferably in 4 door saloon then...

haha, oh snaps! You said it , and when i can, i will take you up on that offer! Congrats on saving his car and making another customer happy. Too bad we weren't able to see any pictures. You could have won that monthly contest on this website. Good job
