I call the police and an officer comes out and takes my info then tells me......get this......"you will have to do your own detective work, if you want, and let us know" :angry what a joke :lmfao These cops are about worthless, I may as well find the guy and beat him with a pipe, but then I'd be in trouble....go figure. Ain't life F**&%@g grand

Actually Im trying to figure that out, I do not own it. It is sorta a land contract / rental. Im working on buying it. Im trying to find out what is covered, but it doesnt look good :angry

What kinda pipe, I could use a good buzz right about now J/K . It pisses me off too because it was an aftermarket radio all they had to do was pull it out and instead they tore the dash / cluster bezel all apart :angry :beat

Bastards....
I have a 3' breaker bar I use for tough bolts. It really is a breaker bar cause I usually break the bolts with it before they start to turn :)

Car insurance should cover it as well - A while back I had just gotten a brand new car stereo - detachable faceplate and all and it got swiped that day from my apartment complex.

Bummer, but......
Your car insurance should cover much of the loss.
You will probably be out some deductible and there will probably be a limit on the personal belongings value covered.
My kids went through this about three times while they were in high school. The thieves did $800 damage getting a $200 radio in one of the break-ins.
Visit with the agent you buy your insurance from. He will probably be able to help you with filing the claim. He wants to keep you happy to keep you as a customer. If he doesn't help, he doesn't deserve to have you as a customer in the future.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Having been in your shoes on several occassions I can tell you how State Farm delt with it. My stereo was covered at the cost that they could replace(about 70% of the value). Anything that was not installed in the car was covered under my home owners policy. Everytime it happened to me it was a hassle and just left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

When I began moding my civic, I took out rider policies on my performance mods. The cost was minumum, but still a hassle IMO.

I have decided that owning a nice stereo in my car is not worth the risk of having my car broken into. I just stay stock.

Good luck, I hope everything turns out OK for you.

Hey EB - question for you - do they insure differently with the mods on the car - everytime I get my insurance on a new car they ask me if it has been "modified."

Very sorry to hear this. A few years ago I had a stereo stolen out of my car. Both angry and sick at the same time. I know if I would've seen him/her/them do it. There would have been a body laying near my house. I would've shot them. I was so irate. Talk to your agent . I know mine would use every angle available to see that I was satisfied. Good luck and please let us know how this turns out. Rick

I have taken out rider policies on my more expensive mods, and it ensures that I will be compensated for those mods if they are stolen. It is basically like having a seperate policy for the mods attached to the regular policy on the car.

They are probably asking you to see if you have significant mods to the car that would require the purchase of a rider policy.

FWIW, there are approximately 45,000 2000 civic SI's in the US, it is the 4th most stolen car in America! Do you think my insurance reflects that? :wait

Did I even come close to answering your question?

I'm sure he'd be the first one to write you a traffic ticket if he had the chance also. Cops are nothing more than revinue generators. When real crime happens they could care less.

Just go for aggrevated assault. In Australia the crims get weekend detention (you read correctly) and good behaviour bonds. If you're Aboriginal you get lunch on the Govt and a waterfront house. You can never get costs back from these bastards that rob you either. I reckon we should get Legal Aid to represent us since they beat off the high priced guys so easily. But seriously - kill 'em. Kill 'em all!

3' pipe is a handy melee weapon. Against multiple attackers you have to work hard to keep distance and avoid wrestling for control of the pipe. Best combination is a long no b.s. hunting knife for left hand and a light weight hatchet for the right. No mf (not read "microfibre") will come near you. Ask a Phillipino how to knife fight - these guys are GOOD! Yes I've taken my medication ;) And yes I stew on this crap for ages when it happens - who doesn't?!

Man that sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of years ago that took my radio, but that didn't do any damage to the dash board, because they took the whole damn vehicle. I noticed it within about 20 min, called the police and then went hunting. Grabbed the old paslode gas powered nailer and 3-1/2" spike. Lucky bastard, because I didn't find them. Then the insurance company decided to screw me also. Told me I could have a rental for 30 days, and they stopped rental payment at 20 days and stuck me with a $750 bill. My lawyer took care of them. I have come to one conclusion through my experience and that is, the innocent person just gets screwed by everyone!!! Good luck and hope things get better

Did you ever see the construction worker that had six nails in his head and lived! That's what I was thinking about
