lets talk sanding discs...

I've usually done my sanding by hand and in spot repair situations...

however, I am not about to do a 60ish VW bus with tons of orange peel by hand!

using the PC, a 6" backing plate, a 3" backing plate as well, what discs would you recommend and why?

Mirka

Trizact

????

Fill me in! I have the Meguiars sheet 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 for hand stuff already.

Mirka's Abranet Soft disks will level very well, even with the less aggressive disks.

The Unigrit disks are by far my favorite, though. The defects are very consistent and I have run into less problems with pigtails, as compared to some of the others. My usual process is to use a Unigrit 1500 Sanding disk and follow it up with a 3000 grit Finishing disk.

Of the three, I would skip the Abralon disks. Even the 4000 grit disks give me pigtails.

My vote is abranet soft 1500 and finish with 2500. boom.... game over. and yes i purchased mine from buffdaddy.com. kevin will take care of you. just give him a call. its easier to explain over the phone then typing

Kevin just sent me a bunch of sanding products and the discs he recommended for the IS300 I'm about to do. Like everyone else said call him because he really knows his sanding. He is also very helpful and loves to teach people about how to sand correctly :)

well, I will be placing a $400 order through buffdaddy after the two lengthy and responsive emails sent out by Kevin! Huge thanks, and I am sure Ill be setup correctly! so many options!

Kevin is the master of explaining things in detail, which is just one of the many reasons why we all recommend him. :bow

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either of the Megs (3M) or Mirka disks. Though I will say I really like the Megs 3000 disks for finishing.
