Let's talk about Zaino!

I'm not seeing much talk about Zaino anymore. Have Zaino users moved on to something else or just too scared to talk about it, kinda like a secret society?

Can anyone here with Zaino experience tell me what the must haves are for a first time Zaino order?

:inspector:

Zaino, has a cult following, for those that use it, they love it. However I don't think that you will have many here that use it. I could be wrong about that but, in the past its not been a product line that has been given much attention.

I've used some of their products and really wasn't impressed with them. IMO its somewhat confusing in how he labels his line. Its also very expensive for anyone other than a person taking care of his own cars.

That's my .02 on it:D

Price is of no concern to me. It is what it is.

Since this is an open forum, I hope some Zaino users stop by and chime in.

Thanks for your .02 cents though

I really like the Zaino line but with the advent of so many new WOWO sealants Zainio is not talked about that much anymore. I was never a real fan of Clear Seal. I found it never really added anything to the finish compared to Opti Seal or Ultima.

I use CS now mostly for wheels.

Some of the other Zaino products I do like are:

Z8
Z10

I wondered but I looked at the new members website and it said he's distributor, offering the same prices as Zaino online. I just can't remember his name.

Edit: found his username, SJZaino.

We are definitely an open forum so please feel free to discuss away!! :rockon
You really do not hear a lot of talk about Zaino these days so would love for some people to chime in about the line!

That leads me to my next question. What caused the death of all the passionate Zaino talk on the forums? 7 years ago if you asked a question about Meguiars, the Zaino guys would chime in and tell you about Zaino. If you used anything else, some were snobbish and would debate that you used an inferior product. When a new product came out, it was compared to Zaino. It actually turned me off from trying Zaino back in the day because of all the hoopla.

I've been around the internet long enough to know that they were referred to as Zaino Zombies or Zaino Zealots. Did they die off? Move on? Was it all hype?

I'm hoping that there is one Zaino guy left that can help me put together a Zaino order. I just want to try it.

Why not call Sal and ask what he recommends? When I ordered some years back that's what I did;)

Who would have thought years ago that it would be so hard to get a Zaino guy to talk on the forum? Maybe the end is coming in 2012.

I don't know about Sal, I can't even find a picture of him online. I'd rather just find someone that is actually a customer that uses Zaino to get their advice. I might have to swing by the Camaro forums later and see if it's still popular there.

There is a few posters on bimmerfest that talk about it all the time. You can find them in the detail section. As I stated those that use it love the product. My feelings is it wasn't anything all the special to start with, and failed to keep pace with all the new lines coming out. Another thing is Zaino doesn't play well with other products. That's not hands on experience, just what I've read over the years at the ODC. This site since its new ownership has taken a hit on the ODC members. Your question might take some time to get a true Zaino person to login.

I'll quickly chime in since no one else has:

If I were you, I'd get Z2 Pro and Z8 Grand Finale Spray Seal. In my opinion, those are the two best products in the line. All the other Zaino stuff I have tried, I have found something equally comparable in performance at a lower cost somewhere else. Leather in a Bottle was okay also, but it wasn't anything extraordinary.

I'd put Z2 Pro and Z8 up against anything similar in anyone else's line.

Thanks, I will check out Bimmerfest too. :bigups

Maybe once I get my order together I will do some testing to show some 2011 results and feedback.

Keep in mind, Dwayne could have completely deleted this site and said screw it instead of putting it into the hands of people that decided to invest in it and give it a chance at new life. So hopefully members will realize that this is a good thing, especially when you compare it with what could have happened.

I also appreciate the fact that I can start a thread asking about Zaino with no fear and that openess is actually encouraged.

Sweet! Thanks!

Z2 and Z8 it is!

I'd suggest making sure you get the paint as defect-free as possible. Z2 Pro has no hiding qualities whatsoever.

And spread it thin.

I've used Zaino for a long time, but I only use it on one car...I got it specifically for a family member's car that I take care of but don't see that often so I wanted something that had the best durability and Zaino seemed to be the thing at the time.

I will say it beads like no other and does seem to last a long time. The Z-CS is easy to put on but it doesn't bead like the regular Zaino "polishes", although the durability of it seems pretty good. IMO the ZFX is definitely worth using, and the Z-8 is just a fantastic product. The tire dressing is very good, and lasts a long time, although I think there is a newer version than the one I have. The Z-PC is a very nice mild polish and it works really well on paint transfers...I have a lot of problems with the Z-AIO, you need to use a very small amount, and it was apparently intended for hand use, which is perhaps why it doesn't agree with me if I use it by machine. The wash is very nice and does seem to extend/refresh the sealant.

As to what happened to the Zealots...I think back years ago Zaino was really a superior product in many respects, and people who tried it found that and wanted to tout it...so much that their zealotry appeared cultish and turned a lot of people off (including me, at one time I refused to even try it because of the "cult"). Of course there was some snob appeal in the way it was marketed, too. IMO part of the reason the zealotry has died down is because wow, there are really tons of good products out there now, and if you perceived Zaino to be the best, there's much less of a gap now than there was. And, let's face it, a lot of what goes on here in the detailing forum world is hype and flavor-of-the-month...and the last "What's New" entry at the Zaino site is from over 4 years ago...just no Zaino buzz going on.

Methinks you have hit upon at least a couple of reasons. For a minute there was a forum by in large comprised of Zainoholics, Zaino maniacs, Zaino Zealots, or however you wish to refer to fans of the Zaino "system". They would go on (and on and on :)) about how infrequently they would "detail" because of the durability of the product. What I just never could understand is that they would refer to themselves as detailing hobbyists and I just never knew anyone who would so actively avoid a hobby they supposedly enjoyed. :D

I'm not going to knock the system or recommend it. If you use it and like it, great. If you've used and it didn't like it, sorry but as Setect mentioned above there are a plethora of products available to try.
