Let's see your shop....

After being moble for a bit, I've found what I think would be an ideal spot to open a detail shop, plus its very inexpensive, and close to several dealer ships.
Im not really familliar with trying to get dealer work, so if you guys have any tips on going from moble (will still be doing moble also)to a fixed location, that would be appreciated. If you have pix of you'r store front, that would be nice to.
Thanks

Re: Let's see you'r shop....

to get a dealer to buy your work you will have to do a couple for free. stop by, ask to see the sales manager or general manager and give them a business card with your fixed address on it. ask them for a couple of cars to show them what you can do. it may seem like free work but they will not pay usually for the first clean up. good luck on your new shop.

I'll try to get some of my shop. We just moved from our old shop into a larger one this week.

Greg, I noticed in one of the pics that you have the odd-shaped buckets from Target..I have them also, but what caught my eye was the dirt grit sitting in the bucket. Does that grit work in the odd-shaped buckets or is that for a different bucket? If it works in the buckets, please let me know where you got it at! thanks.

I don't have my own garage but I use my parents as my "shop." I don't have a business but I'm keeping our cars clean in it. After I get it cleaned up (junky from just moving into a new house) and get the jetski sold (taking a lot of room) I will get some pics taken, especially of my detailing supplies

I hade to mod teh grit guards to fit inside the bucket. I just took one little edge to the band saw. They fit great now!!

I noticed you have the SHARK steam cleaner. How do you like it. Does it do a good job?

Re: Let's see you'r shop....

Greg,
you have a nice collection of products and i noticed the garage is that a drain you have there. i wish i had thought of that last year when i had my garage built.

Re: Let's see you'r shop....

I bought the same wash bucket from target and it came with a grit guard. I like it. After washing, don't empty all of the water out and look under the grit guard. That is where all of the dirt settles as in any bucket. The grit guard keeps the grit in the bottom of the bucket from saturating into your wash mitt.

Its OK. I wouldnt buy that one if your going for a steam cleaner. I got it for free. It does an ok but I rarely use it.

JOE P. - Thanks, I have since gotten rid of about 30% off those products. I gave up on the flavor of the week stuff and just use my favorites now. The drain is very handy especially when I wash in the garage.

This is my fathers shop that he built for me to use for cleaning his cars and my customers cars. It has a 5ton Trane heat/air unit, floor drain, interior water and hot water heater, air compressor, etc. I use it alot especially in the winter. My clients have the cleanest cars around b/c I can spend time on thier car in the heated garage, instead of doing a really quick(and cold) wash outside.

Lets see somemore pics!

Here are some of my shop.

This is an early shot of our old shop after a lot of work. I have a lot of pictures of it if anyone wants to see more of it.

We were in that shop working for about 8-9 months. We now have a new shop that became available that we couldn't pass up. The old one would fit two if you were working on them. I stored three cars in it when I had to for the night. The new shop has a 12' door in the wash bay (the other shop had one 10' door) so we can get cube vans in. Plus we have an area that will fit 4 cars in. This area has two 10' doors and one 14' door. So we can get a rig, bus, rv and so on in there. We have 48' in lenth in this shop. Now on to the pictues.
