Lether Care Question

I have spend probably close to $400 in the last month on my detailing kit and have yet to pick up a leather treatment. I was wondering if I could use the leather care lotion that I got with my Danier leather jacket? You know the one that you get talked into buying with the jacket but never end up using? :o It says it's specially formulated to help clean and preserve leather garments. I just wanted to get a professional opinion on using this for my automotive needs. Thanks.

Mine is not a professional opinion :p but I would recommend using products that are for made for automotive use. I currently use Eagle One Leather Spray and it keeps my seats very clean and gives the whole Truck a nice smell.

Yeah the one thing that an ordinary leather cleaner might be missing is the great smell. Ah whats another $15 right? lol.

Look into products made for the automotive treatment of leather.

Some of them are: Leatherique, Autoglym, 1Z-Lederpfledge, Zaino, Hide Food.

SOme work better than others and have different characteristics as to what or how they treat.

I find that Hide Food, very good stuff and used by RR smells like Kerosene.

Zaino's leather products smell like leather and clean well & treat very well.

Leatherique, odd way of using it, oil first then a cleaner after, but one of the best cleaner and treats for leather.

1Z Lederpfledge, has a wax in it to not only soften leather, but keep it from staining. Nice smell.

Autoglym, not bad at all. Nice smell, treats well.

Lexol: Not the best cleaners, and the treatments leave leather glossy as hell.

You will find quite a bit on Leatherique, as it's used a lot in auto leather restoration and maintenance. See my other posts on leather.

Stay with automotive leather products and you will be fine.
