less diluted car wash for wheel cleaning?

Did anyone try less diluted car wash concentrate for wheel cleaning?



Mothers California Gold Car Wash 64 oz bottle is $7.99 at local PepBoys.

So even if I use it 1:1 or 1:5 mix, it is quite economical.

Mothers claim that the car wash does not remove wax even at full strenght. So I guess this car wash is safe for any wheels.

I have seen megs GC 64 oz bottle at Pepboys. The same price as Mothers car wash. megs NXT wash was cheaper.



What ratio do you use (concentrate : water)?



Is is comparable to wheel cleaners claiming "spray on, hose off"?
 
You won't get "touchless" cleaning from car wash shampoo, but you *will* avoid stripping whatever LSP you have on your wheels. I just mix it up by eye; you'll quickly get a feel for how strong to make it.
 
No, it's not touchless. I usually do a double strength mix and use one of the wool mitts I've retired from using on the paint.
 
last summer. Used my P21S Wheel Cleaner one last time on my wheels. Then used a great tip that I found here on Autopia. Applied Klaase AIO (1X) and SG (2X) on my wheels to keep the brake dust down. The following week when I washed my car's wheels, I took a car wash shampoo that I don't use anymore (in this case Zymol Clear Auto Bathe), mixed it 60% water and 40% Zymol Clear in a spray bottle and used the solution for the wheels. Alot cheaper than buying those wheels cleaners and all my auto shampoos no longer sit on the shelves but now have a new found purpose in life.
 
I use the same solution from the car. After I wash the car, I wash the wheels/tires with a different wash mitt.



With a good layer (s) of sealant on the wheels, wheel cleaners are hardly ever necessary.
 
I use a third bucket & one of my less favored car washes - with 11 washes you'll have some you love & some you aren't wild about...at least I only hate 1 of them.
