Leopard Spotting

Has anybody ever come across a paint imperfection that appeared to look like leopard spots? My truck has these spots on the lower body panels, on the gray half of the two-tone paint.

Any idea what causes this? Any suggestions for removing them?

Those look like stone chips to me. My mom's car has that same look on the lower part of the car behind each wheel, and the "spots" are small stone chips.

Oh I couldn't see that in the first pic. I've never seen that before, but I'd try a paint cleaner like Klasse AIO first.

I apologize. I should have been clearer. I'm refering to the larger light gray spots, not the black specks. They may not show up on your monitor. You have to look closely.

Hard to tell from a pic but it looks like it might be some kind of staining or etching of the clearcoat. Does it feel any different form the surrounding paint?

I agree that some kind of cleaner would be a good first shot at it. I always keep a tube of ScratchX handy for such things.

PC.

Apparently the stains are from tire foam that I used a few years ago. The stains are smooth. I have used AIO on the truck, but it didn't get rid of the spots. I tried polishing with Menzerna IP, but that didn't get rid of them either.

I think I'm resigned to live with them. They aren't that noticeable.
