LED worklight for car interior work

Just bought new Chevy Avalanche. It has lots of grey plastic for body panels. I do not want it to fade in the sun.



Any suggestions about care? I know I need UV protection but I do not want a greasy coating that sucks up dust.



Been thinking of 303 but wondered if there is one more available in local stores to use. The Avalanche has plenty of plastic about 100 square feet so price is important since it will use a bunch.

I use Klasse on my plastic parts (even the rough lower valences on my car). Don't know about protection from fading though. A little goes a long way but it'll cost you about $40 for both the All in One (AIO) and the Sealent Glaze (SG). You could stick to the AIO and only buy 1 of the two and still get the same effect, IMO.



A good 303 (store bought) replacement is Black Magic's Dashboard Protectant (not the silicone oily stuff) this stuff is waterbased. Don't know how it does on the outward panels on your Chevy but it does well on the interior at $2.99 a bottle or so (higher on bigger bottles).

YoSteve's favorite product should work for you. Try Black Magic Semi-Gloss Dashboard protectant. It comes in a black bottle and you can get it at your local WalMart. The Semi-Gloss is water based, DO NOT GET THE ONE IN THE CLEAR BOTTLE, GET THE BLACK BOTTLE ONLY. The clear bottle has silicone in it, and you want stay away from that.



I got a 10oz bottle at WalMart for $2.87, I tried it and it and it works very well. It leaves a matte finish, and it is loaded with UV blockers. Again here is the product info

With all this UV blocker talk, has anyone ever tried actually putting sunscreen with moisturizers on their plastic trim?
 
I haven't waxman, but I put lexol conditioner on the back of my hand to see how greasy it would be over time :)
 
Sunscreen would be oily I figure and tend to attract Seagull crap but may attract bikini clad woman as well? Hmmmmmmmm, I will get back to ya on that one.

Zaino just e-mailed and said (of course) use his tire dressing.



How do you all feel about Zaino products? All hype or he delivers?
 
I have never tried Zaino tire dressing on plastic parts. I have tried it on my tires, and it works very well but I keep it for my tires and rubber trim. I guess you could try it on plasitc, but it is kind of expensive, I think around $13 a bottle. If you have a lot of plastic on your vehicle you may want to try something cheaper, like the Black Magic especially if cost is going to be an issue.
 
The Zaino Z-16 Tire Gloss is an excellent product. Durability is great, simple and forgiving to apply. Also very versatile - can be used on all EPDM rubber, vinyl, door pulls, plastics, as well as tires.



The finish left on the tire is a low gloss, almost matte black finish. Reminds me of a new tire in appearance. Does not sling off, nor turn your tires brown. Contains UV protection. I have been using it on the Vette for about 8 months now and really like it.

Side issue:



Anyone use something better than RainX. I hate the smearing effect when using wipers at low speed. IT rains a lot down south here. I want one that sheets the water away not bead up.
 
Try Aquapel. You will have to get it put on though. I think Jiffy Lube had it at one point, I dont know if they still do though. One of our members here, Ron Ketcham, works for Auto International and they may start selling it on their website soon. They just siged an agreement with PPG to sell it, but they are still working things out. Check out their website they have some very good professional grade detailing products. www.autoint.com
 
I would recommend Klasse AIO or Zaino Z-2 for the trim. I find both of them don't leave residue, darkens and restores plastic exterior trim.



Z-16 might be okay, but I find it a bit too watery, bit too shiny, for all that trim on the Avalanche. I recommend Z-16 for tires instead.



Black Magic's Dashboard Semi-gloss protectant (not the waterless version) and 303 Aerospace both may work too, but I like to reserve those for inside.
 
As Arcitcwhite and Darbh stated before, the Z-16 would be a real good choice for exterior plastic. It is very durable. Laters.
 
I am looking for an LED worklight to be used when doing car interiors. The ideal light is battery/rechargeable, rugged, and bright.

Has anyone used one they liked or disliked?

If your talking about the standing light rig in his shop... that was a custom build by a close friend/fabricator.
