Leaving cologne/perfume in the car?

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
i was just wondering, is it bad if i leave my cologne in the car? my car usually gets pretty hot being that its in direct sunlight all day under the hawaiian sun. the good news is that it isnt pressurized, so it hopefully wont explode. im just wondering, are there any adverse effects that may occur? i mean, will any chemicals evapourate or anything?

do any of you guys (and gals) leave your cologne/deodorant in the car?

I use to leave my cologne in the car all the time in the glove compartment that is when i live in AZ and never had a problem. You might lose some due to evaporation but thats it. Anyone else??

I don't do that coz heat from the sun is bad for anything, might alter the smell of the perfumes

One other thing, it gets reallyyyyy hot inside the car, what more with the black leather in the bimmer :wait

yea, that black interior may be a killer. i was thinking that i would leave it in my glove compartment, at least its not gonna get too hot in there (or is it). i was worried that some solvents may happen to evapourate and would have adverse effects on the cologne, but im not sure. im figuring that because its closed, the solvents cant escape easily, so it will just precipitate back into the cologne, hopefully.

Zesty, it's not a good idea.:nono The ambient heat in the glovebox (or anywhere in the car) is sufficient to chemically alter the cologne changing the smell.:hurl You would be better off to keep a bottle in your "gym" bag.

And it goes without saying - NEVER leave an aerosol can in your car!!! :bigscream

PS - Congrats on 1400 posts!! :bigups :)

I usually leave a tiny bottle in my backpack with me. I've never had any problems, but then again, I'm no chemist so I'm not sure what can happen.
