Leather: Zaino or Leatherique?

You're confident about that? Have you tried diluting your own RO to make PC?

Yes I am confident, and yes I diluted my RO and used it that way. Worked fine.

Sounds like you'll eventually need to Leatherique your seats. Start with one bottle...you never know, you may not need as much.

Most seats that old and in that condition don't just need conditioning, they need deep cleaning within the leather. Leatherique accomplishes that by dissolving and displacing the muck to the surface.

All other cleaners clean the surface, which is ok if you clean your leather regularly from new.

I just recently bought the gallon set special, and I could probable hook you up with a 32 oz set of RO/PC for under 50 shipped. Going to be treating my seats this weekend, so I let you know how is goes. Just send me a PM if your interested

I take good care of my leather seats and do Leatherique about once a year. Works pretty well, but basically keeps the leather in a like new condition. It probably produces more dramatic results on cars needing restoration.

Anyway, I use Zaino Z10 for maintenance throughout the year, and then Leatherique to deep cleanse. You can definitely use Zaino more often and it's a more affordable.

I don't think you will be able to soften your leather significantly in one application. Even with specialized leather softeners, you hae to leave the creame on there for a few days.

Paul,

I'm surprised the distributor was willing to tell you that about PC!

Also surprised I didn't notice before. The liquids are seemingly different. IMO that's pretty sneaky to package PC as dilluted RO!

For maintenance I would go with Leathermaster. They have a product called Leather Vital that is the best leather conditioner I have used for BOTH coated and aniline leathers.

After you do a leatherique application(s), by the way apply the leatherique and then place some trash bags over your seats and leave it parked for at least 24 hours, you can then use the Leathermaster "Vital" for upkeep. It does a great job on its own at softening leathers and their cleaners are great also. They have a cleaner for ink and they also have a glue that can be used to mend ripped leather.

About the 4:1 dilution, I looked up the prices of RO and PC. A 32 oz bottle of RO is $44. A special set of bothis $55. So getting both really isn't any more expensive than getting a single bottle of RO and diluting it yourself.

That's true if you get that special...otherwise PC is about 60% the cost of RO...making it yourself brings it down to 25%.

BTW, for regular maintenance and conditioning you use PC.
