Leather product stuck in the holes of my seats...

I have recently purchased new leather for my Camaro (new black leather from a 2001 Z28 with under 15,000 miles). Seats are basically brand new.

I go to use Meguairs conditioner (just to see if it was any good), it was the white thick kind in a black bottle. It dried up and I cant get it out of the little holes in my leather. I tried everything, even poking a little needle in every hole but it just moves it around, I can't get it out. It looks so ghetto.

this happened to me once and i got it out with a tooth pick. but next time use some lexol products, or something that is more fluid.

If you are using a "creme" type product, try applying it to your cloth first and massaging it into the non-perforated areas first. That way, what is left over on the cloth is more than enough to treat the perforated areas. I do this on my car and it works great.

Of course this process is for future applications. For removing the residue, the toothpick idea works well but can be daunting with hundreds of holes. NozeBleed's process may be easier.

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

I’d go along with the advice given by Nosebleedspeed.

Frank I would have thought the cured leather dressing is waterproof; I’m not so sure water will remove it.

~ Hope this helps ~

Yup had the same problem with the Gold Class Leather Conditioner on my MB and ended up switching to Griots.

I love how the Megs conditioner works but didn't like the smell or the difficulty with application. Even with applying the conditioner to the cloth first and spreading it on smooth surfaces I would still end up with residue in my perforations. I get the same results with Griots but it smells like leather and doesn't clog the perforations. I tried Lexol and that also works well with the perforations but didn't care for it's smell.

To Clean:

If none of the above suggestions work, wait for the product to somewhat dry (will never dry completely) and then use a toothpick to remove it. It will take time but can be done. Good luck and I hope you have patience.

BTW I did mention the issues to Meguiars and I believe they were passed along to the chemist. I think the Aloe product recently introduced may be their answer to this problem, haven't tried it yet though. I also suggested adding a leather scent to the product leather products.:o Hope they listen.:)

After you get the stuff out of the holes, try someZ-9 and Z-10 by Zaino. I Don't use other Zaino products as it seems WAY too complicated but this leather cleaner and conditioner that I got from them is AWESOME! Smells like brand new leather when I am done. The cleaner is a spray that you spray on/wipe off, and the conditioner penetrates the leather very well, and you don't wipe it off. I have little holes in my leather seats too and haven't had one prob w/it sticking in there.
