Good job - eliminating something chemical is definitely a plus here.
I detailed a gorgeous Black Volvo Wagon- believe a 2008, and the leather in there was absolutey beautiful quality. I am amazed that something would be able to penetrate it in the first place.
Good luck with this, will keep thinking about it too, and hopefully soon as some of these guys come in for a break from the job, they will post up more advice, experiences that will help, etc..

I'll one better that, after no smell I went a step further and applied my tounge (I'd just cleaned with both hot water and woolite plus the only butt in that seat is mine) and nothing. I'm guessing this is water related not something chemical.
