Leather Conditioner

Well, I am underway in my multi-day detail. I started with the leather on the seats...I used the woolite technique on the drivers seat, and that worked great (except it took 1.5 hrs to clean 10 years of dirt etc off it ).



However, I had a bottle of AA leather conditioner and used it on the leather after cleaning, but I slid all over the place when I tried sitting down! I go to read the back of the bottle and it says to not use it where "slipperiness may cause danger."



So, I'm going to be out tomorrow, and I want to pick up some different leather conditioner. Does anyone know some decent OTC leather conditioner that isn't slippery when applied? (lexol maybe?). I really don't feel like a) spending a lot on and b) ordering online. Thanks!
 
Surf City Garage Voodoo blend leather conditioner is amazing stuff. You can get it at most Advance Auto Parts stores.

i got this stuff and its pretty good but i got a quick question for ya,do you have to apply everytime u clean your car or certain times a month/week/year ???? or can u just apply it whenever?
 
Ive only used Meguiars Gold Class cleaner/conditioner spray.



Just recently got the Detailers line of Leather cleaner/conditioner to try out
 
Always when applying leather conditioner heat up the leather with a hair dryer, steamer, or heatgun. This will open the pores on the leather which will allow most of the conditioner to absorb into the leather. If it's slippery, then the seats may not be real leather?

I would say that it's the armor-all not the seats.
 
Yeah, I'm going to say it's the AA, not the seats. Sounds greasy to me. Does the leather end up really shiney/glossy as well?
 
Aah gotcha, I had never heard of AA leather conditioner, didn't realize it was Armor-All. Yeah, throw that garbage away.

I'm not sure if it's any good, but I use Zymol cleaner and their conditioner as well. Both my cars have leather interior, and I like the results. Still not sure if it's worth a hoot or not.



Smells good and natural, not strong, and seems to help a lot with moisturizing the leather itself and brings some life to it. That's my uninformed take though. ;)

If the leather has a vinyl coating then the AA leather conditioner will just sit on the surface. When you put a drop of water on the leather, does it soak in or stay put?
 
I tried the Lexol conditioner yesterday and it worked great! After stripping off the AA, I applied the Lexol and there was a very noticeable difference.



To those who suggested: I did leave the seats out in the sun for a bit to open the pores...I gathered the heat trick from reading the C&Bs. And yes, they are real leather, it was just the AA that was making them really slick.



Now the seats are nice, soft(er), and feel great to me. Thanks to all!
