Layering Tropi-Care Polish

I have a bottle of the pink cherry smelling Tropi-Care polish at home and Im wanting to do a good detail job on my 98 Corvette that I recently got. I was wanting to do something to give it a little deeper shine than just using Tropi-Care like I did on my old car. My C5 is Torch Red and I was thinking about topping the Tropi-Care with something like S100. Can you top Tropi-Care polish with NXT or would that be screwing up what you just did? I do often park my car outside in the sun for a few hours because of school if that affects your decisions any. Thanks for the input!

The best way to get a better shine out of your paint is to have better prep work. A good paint polish followed by your Tropi-Care would look really nice.

If you want to top it with something, I would look at S100 or Meguiar's #16. #16 has an extremely wet look.

I have a tube of Meguiar's ScratchX already. Ive read before that it can be used as a paint polish. Do you recommend this, or should I get something else? I prefer to buy something that I do not have to order online.

Are you close to Weaver? Wayne's Towels carries the 1Z line which is excellent. http://www.waynestowels.com/

If not, try either the Meguairs 3 step Deep Crystal System or the Mothers 3 step system. Both will give you the foundation discussed in so many threads...clean, polish & protect. If you like NXT you could get the Megs Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner & Polish and then top with the NXT or Tropi-Care...you can get either the Mother's or Megs 3 step products at Pepboys, Autozone, etc. If you decide to spend more money/upgrade later you can always order online from Autopia, Autogeek, PAC etc.

You may also want to consider using a clay bar to remove surface contaminants. That will also help to prep your paint and make it feel like glass. I've seen the Clay Magic & Mothers clay kit at either Advance or Autozone...the Pepboys by me doesn't carry either.

Just a few thoughts. Like Zane O said, the preparation is where the shine comes from...the last step product/topping is like the cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae...it isn't nearly as good by itself without the ice cream and hot fudge. Sorry that's the best I could come up with at this late hour.

If I choose to apply S100 over Tropi-Care, is there a certain period of time I need to let the Tropi-Care cure before applying S100?

I've topped both Tropi-Care pink and yellow with S100 immediatley after removing the TC polish and waited 24 hours or so. I really didn't see any problems either way.

I did a quick wash job today on the C5 because of where I went to my g/f's house tuesday and it had been raining and she lives on a dirt road. After the cleanup, I ran my fingers across the hood and it felt smooth as glass. It felt like the original owner had fairly recently claybared the car and the paint had some excellent bling to it, but I still want to wax it myself. Do you still recommend using a paint poslish along with TC and S100?

I went to O' Riley's tonight and looked at the Deep Crystal System. Step 1 was a paint cleaner, 2 was a polish, and 3 was a wax. Since I already have TC Polish and S100, could I just use their Step 1 paint cleaner? I'll probably be just fine with what I already have, but the Step 1 may provide some added protection to my paint, or would it not be a good idea to use 1 without their polish too along with TC3?
