Conventional wisdom seems to indicate that sealants (Klasse, Zaino, EX-P, etc, etc) can last from 90 to 180 days (3 – 6 months). What are your theoretical thoughts about the following (I’ll use Klasse as the example, but fill in any name you like)???
a) Do sealants start to break down over time (3-6 months?), similar in concept to the idea that oil in your crankcase will breakdown over time, even if you don’t drive your car. The first layer of AIO would last 3-4 months by itself. A layer of SG results in a total of 4-5 months, and a second layer of SG would bring the total to 5-6 months, in that each layer offers some additional protection to the previous layer; however, at some point, some layers start to fail and it’s necessary to start over from scratch. OR,
b) Do sealants have an amazingly long half-life, like plastic in a landfill they go on forever? The layer of AIO would last for 3-6 months. By topping with a layer of SG, the duration becomes 6-9 months, and the second SG layer even longer. At this point, would putting a layer of EX-P on every 60 days would protect the underlying coats of AIO and SG, which would then last the life of the car?
