Layering Poorboy's EX

I usually wait 24 hrs to layer EX but some have applied immediate after the first coat. I do not know if there's any advantage either way. :wavey
I've recently begun using Poorboy's EX and I used two layers, one right after another on a Miata (thread should still be on the first page of the product discussion forum) and time will tell if it helps. I only see this car every few months so I'll see how well it is beading probably in January. It did look very nice and feel slick when I finished.

I'm not sure, but if it's EX with carnuba it probably has 24 hour cure time.
You definitely need to put on a second a coat. Check out my audi pics in the click and brag forum. The second coat kicks it up.
If you're applying a coat of wax on top of the EX, then you definitely have to wait the 24. But I think you can get away with layering EX with less cure time.
If you live in a warm climate, you can get away with a 10-12 hour cure time. If it's a colder one, I would try and wait at least 15-24. If you're in a hurry, try parking in the sun in between coats. That'll help speed things along. And yes, you can even apply this stuff in the sun.

I'm a definite fan of EX. I've tried other products, but I always come back to EX. I get the carnuaba look with better longevity. Good stuff.
I always wait the 24 hours. Haven't tried it in less. You HAVE to apply at least 2 coats. The second coat like weegee said DRASTICALLY improves the shine and appearance. Third coat doesn't do much, the 4th coat again improves the appearance. Haven't tried any more than that.
I apply EX over GEPC and got 6 months out of it on my Explorer which is automatic soft cloth washed every week or two. Its been 5 weeks since I put 4 coats on the Lexus and its been run through a high pressure touchless every week and then Poorboys S&W'd right after since its been colder, and its still hanging in there. I'm happy with it over the GEPC but am definately going to try poorboy's polish or VM underneath it sometime.

For longevity in layering. it should be layered by hand, and you should wait as weegee said about 12-24 hours in a warm climate or garage....colder weather give it a day...for just plain looks and POP ..you can go right to the next coat ...and just do some decent maintence as GoodnClean has done and you'll be fine too. If you are going into winter and harsh environmental conditions with little or no maintenece, then as Scottwax has said a nice coat of polish w/ Carnuba would definitely extend it's protection.
As far a beading = protection, that debate can and will go forever.
I've had people with two or more vehicles, identical prep, but different vehicle mfg's and colors, and get totally different beading patterns. So go figure:nixweiss

I do a Mercedes S55 and an S500, both black, each less than 2 years old, and the S55 consistantly beads longer than the S500 does, even using the same exact combination, they both live in the same subdivision and both work in offices next to a freeway. The S55 will bead nearly twice as long.

"I believe that an hour is a good amount of time ...some people wait 24 hours..
I really don't find any benefit for waiting that long."

Yes Mmmph I still see very little difference , but since other people seem to see a bit more depth after waiting a day it can not hurt.
Detailers who put on a layer and basically do a whole vehicle, which in most case takes about 30-50 minutes, shorter if using a machine, then remove it, have waited about an hour between coats. Being that we are Autopians looking for the slightest increase a product can achieve, many people have experimented and well as myself with leaving the product on for longer than 24 hours, not just waiting, looking for a slight increase in POP.
Would most people see it..maybe maybe not..Autopians...almost always

So its better if I layer it by hand? I've been layering the product with my PC, grey finishing pad on setting 3. I just totally redid the Lexus today, started with GEPC and applied one coat of EX with the PC. Going to do coat 2 tomorrow, should I do it by hand?

Yes i would do layering by hand. All liquid and almost all wax products contain some form of PD's ...PD's by nature will cause a cleaning effect and remove some of the previously used product, and on some single stage finishes(non-clearcoated) you will also see some color on a pad if done by machine. The machine(pc for most) no matter how slow will cause friction, and the combination of friction and PD's will cause a cleaning effect.
Now i hear a lot of feedback and some people are doing exactly what you are doing with a machine (pc) and getting excellent results and a deeper shine with POP. If it works for you, keep on going as you are, this is not an exact science.

It has been working for me (I believe anyway LOL) but I'll try it by hand and see where it leaves me

Well, I just put a coat of EX on my car this weekend using a machine. Guess I'll try to add another coat by hand tomorrow. I guess two coats will better protect in the winter. Will two coats keep the car warmer?

It will make it colder. The suns warmth will just reflect right off instead of absorbing into the car.
Hey Steve, if you're still lurking, hope you're feeling better. I heard that you had major bypass surgery (correct me if I'm wrong).
I've got to ask this question though so I can sleep at night. First of all, I've given EX many rave reviews so I hope you don't take this the wrong way. My very first impression upon opening the bottle, seeing and smelling the product, was is this stuff #26??? I can't help but notice the many similar physical traits. Just curious if there are any similarities in the chemical makeup
