Layering NXT or NXT 2.0

Jesstzn, stop being rude. People here are attempting to answer your question. When someone replies to your question, please do not respond with a "lets get back on topic". My reply was my answer to your question.

What do you want to know? It seems to me as people have already weighed in with their opinions.

I wasn't looking for opinions , even the Meguiars dedicated consumer products forum is full of wrong ones.

Your Klasse & carnuba comments were off topic. I wasn't being rude.

In the end, who cares? 1 application is more than sufficient in my experience for a solid 4 months of shine, beading and at least some slickness at the end.

IMO, layering is a way to get you to go through already durable products more quickly so you buy more. 2 thin layers to ensure complete coverage is all you will ever need.

Scott people layer for many reasons ... I don't , like other detailers that provide a service, do layering on customers cars but do like to layer to get different looks and I am trying to get a diffinitive answer.

I don't think you are going to get any visual or durability difference with NXT if you put on one vs two layers. I wouldn't feel comfortable selling 'layering' since I don't feel there is any real benefit aside from 2 application to ensure full coverage.

Certain layerability (with cleaning, aka NOT CLEANER type of waxes) depend on the application method. Application with a DA will fully utilize the cleaner package, while a light hand application won't. If the product contains only chemical cleaners, the pressure and the application method doesn't count as much.

In reality if you already applied NXT and it did its cleaning already or not you wouldn't see anything even if it did have cleaners doing the second layer as anything to clean is already gone.

but the first layer had been on 2 weeks and about 600 miles of rain, sleet, snow and road muck, so even after the wash there was still likely to be some slight 'dirt' on the surface to clean.

Update ...

Mike from Meguiars has provided a direct answer to this ..

Question From Me

I know you can keep applying but is there enough cleaners / abrasives in NXT to remove the layer of NXT below or a portion of it?

I'm not talking about the act of friction from application .. but the results of the chemicals/solvents/cleaners/ abrasives "IN" the product removing whats cured below.

Answer= From Mike Phillips

No. When applying a second or third coat of either NXT or M21, the ingredients will not remove the previously applied layer from the surface in and of themselves but will in fact create a uniform layer or coating on the surface until the point of diminishing returns has been reached.

My question is if you prep the paint with Klasse AIO, or Color X would the NXT2 remove some or all of the KAIO or color X. I got a round about answer from Megs.

I was thinking about topping NXT 2.0 over Collinite #845/#925 for a little extra shine. I already put two coats of Collinite on my Durango, and my wife's Grand-Am. I could use my wife's Grand-Am as a guinea pig, but if anyone knows the answer it would save me time and trouble. lol
