Do you mean de-thatch? The practices of de-thatching and scalping of lawns are not necessary or beneficial. Are you certain that you have enough thatch build up to be detrimental?
 
I have female dog damage on my lawn .I hear that lime will help. Does anybody have any other ideas? Im going to replant the grass in the bald spots this fall. One guy told me to sprinkle baking soda , cover with good soil and use Tall Fesque grass seed.
 
Yeah, dethatching is not necessarily a good thing. It can be quite stressful on the lawn, and I don't think that right before the dormant season is the time to do it. You want to do it prior to growing season.
 
My best guess, without looking at the lawn, is that you don't have a thatch problem. If you do (again doubtful) then you have more things to worry about than that. That would likely mean that you aren't doing even a single thing right when it comes to taking care of your lawn...over fertilization (especially with synthetic fertilizers), poor watering habits, improper mowing, etc. etc. etc.



You are approaching a good time for Fall fertilization, hopefully with an organic based product :D Check with your local nursery or feed and seed for some options. Here in the D/FW area even HD and Lowe's have some organic products in stock.
 
Does anybody know the best mulch blades to get for my lawn tractor? I have a Sabre 20hp with a 46" 3 blade deck?

Yep, I'll probably pick up a spreader tomorrow. I already have a bag of organic fertilizer - same as the spring.
