Haven't really heard of when the new version will come out. If you do buy the current one, you can buy the upgrade and put it on the current version.

No release date on the " new & improved " version yet, that is if I did not miss something. Update from Rev 1 to Rev 2 when released is supposed to be around 50.00. A Rev 2 machine from what I have read will increase in price to 199.00.
Hey DavidB, I'm really looking forward to buying a UDM, I've been slowly amassing everything I'll be needing for polishing.
What exactly will be upgraded on the newer version, and what is your latest estimate on when it will be available?
Also, will it be sold with a similar kit as the current one? ie, backing plate, 1 pad, etc.
If you have gone over this somewhere else, please direct me to it. Thanks for any info!!

We have been hard at work for months to design UDM 2.0. The machine is not all new, rather it takes into consideration all that we learned from the UDM 1.0 machine. After all, we are new in the tool building business.
The 2.0 machine features a new skin, with a sleeker design and repositioned switch (side). We created a "PC style" counterweight system that does not infringe on the PC patent. The electrical cord is longer (10'), and we changed the orientation of the speed control to be horizontal.
The UDM 2.0 uses the same motor and gears, so it basically sounds the same and works the same.
The UDM 2.0 will be sold in the exact same configurations as the UDM 1.0. No changes.
The UDM 2.0 will be available in both 120v and 240v variations. Once we started UDM 2.0 we backed off the 240v UDM 1.0 due to the cost of the safety certification for the EU markets.
The UDM 2.0 is a tool we will build for 3-5 years before replacing it with a new design.
Due to new import taxes on parts and increasing labor costs here in the USA, the base system price on the UDM 2.0 will increase by $20 to $25... we're still working on it.
We are also working on a very small, light weight power converter for the UK market. If I can keep the most current version I have stable with the UDM 2.0 under full load for 2+ hours, I will show it.
So, nothing revolutionary on UDM 2.0... really just evolutionary changes to the original. We are working on new machines that will be revolutionary for those who want a premium model polisher.
UDM 2.0 does not yet have a scheduled delivery date because it has not passed CSA and CE certification. This process can take weeks to months.
