Latest detail on my wife's car

Nice job on the detail, and it looks like your giving DavidB a run for his money with all your detailed steps and pictures. :2thumbs:

Lol - I'm setting up a new online detailing store in the Uk, so I'm busy getting pics and doing details for the how to guides. Thanks all for the kind words - I figure testing the pictures out on here is an acid test of whether they (and my work) is good enough. As for the questions...

SSR1 - I had to make a large number of slow, firm passes on some sections, with the dial bumped up to 6. There are some areas which could do with a little more work, but I'm too pushed for time at the moment, so I'll have another go at it next spring. I'll review the condition of the paint then, and probably go more aggressive to get it perfect for the summer.

Tire brush - it's not a tire brush, it's the versa-angle wheel face brush, which is considerably softer than the tire brush and IMHO much easier to use. I can't stand the Megs tire brush either!

Thanks for comments everyone, its not easy to get process pics, but this time my wife was happy to help out. Haven't tried HGAS yet, but it's on my list for a few weeks time, before snow season starts. I'm planning to do the engine bay in a week or two, and the interior is already perfect (my wife did it herself and did a great job - she even phoned me at work asking "Shall I use 303 Protectant or Natural Look for the dash?" - I love her to bits. As for the SSR1, I love it, it's my favourite cutting polish, and I always mist the pad lightly before I start - just a shot or two, nothing more. Never had any problems, but I haven't ever tried it without misting first.

She should be happy to take pics with you working so hard on her car. My gf hasn't got the foggiest clue what 303 or NL are.

AIO/FMJ has worked really well for me too. Ultra slick and wet. Ease of use is def. one of the best.

SSR1 has been pretty weak for me. With a bit of work it can do a fair bit, but SSR2 or 2.5 would do the job a lot quicker.

Well, looks like I did it just in time - first snow of the season last night, and the gritters have been out all week laying down copious amounts of road salt. Oh good. Anyway, I should be getting some HGAS in a week or two to top up the FMJ, still might still lay down another coat of FMJ after the next wash. Now that winter has arrived I'm sure it'll become increasingly hard to stay on top of it... :(
