GOT PREP?
This story is a bit amusingcustomer bought the car(she was already a customer of ours) new, but it had been on the lot for months. She saw a few spots and wanted them taken care ofshe *insisted* that they not buff, which they agreed to. When she took delivery of the car she saw the holograms and drove straight to our shop.

I do the detail, they call me and inquire about my process at which point they tell me how they have been doing this for 20+ years and never heard of anyone charging that much for a “cut and buff (lol). So after I carefully explain to them that I don’t care, they agree to pay meshe was going to pay if they didn’t.

We fixed it with a bit of M105/FPII on the flex, it is sealed with UPP.

This G35 has a story behind it as wellI just love dealerships. Gentlemen has been a customer of ours for quite sometime. He is flagged in the computer as a “do not wash customer. The service advisor specifically asks the gentlemen if he is sure that he doesn’t want the car washedhe emphatically says “no. The customer walks outside to take delivery and of course some guy is wiping the car down with a chamois. According to the guy they rinsed the car, realized that it wasn’t to be washed, and began wiping it down.

The short story is that they insisted that they could fix it, he gave them the chance under the condition that if they couldn’t recondition it to his liking then it would come to us.

I will let the pictures do the talking for the work.

This is before we got all of the “oils off:

After washing with a strong detergent to remove the fillers:

Here are the afters—we used M105/orange pad/flex, followed by FPII/red LC CCS pad, and finally sealed with UPP.

I would totally snap if I bought a new vehicle and on delivery it looked like that. I was actually very lucky. I bought an 04' Titan (Silver) and an 08' Saturn Sky (Black) and both were delivered in pristine shape!

Anyway, great turn around.

Great work as always Joe!!!

I have a dealer correction coming up as well in a few weeks on a black M35. The client had to raise hell with the GM, but they are paying the full bill.

I love hacks, they keep us all in business. :nixweiss

Awesome recoveries Joe. I hope the clients took the car back to the dealership to show the "proper" way the car should have been done.

Great detail, Great Car, Great Job! Now if only I could meet the person who puts a pinstripe on a $40,000 car in 2009...

Nice recovery again Joe. You've gotta love it when untrained people attack black vehicles with a rotary!

joe great recovery man! the crazy thing is that whoever cut and buffed that like that probaly was oh well its just another car or the dealer said just get it out. this is something ill never understeand. these dealers are trying to sell nice cars and i was always taught you never get a second chance to make a first impression. yet they still just get them and out in like three hours and thats the after math. at what point is iti the dealers fault or a detailers fault? all detailers i know are very pridefull at any level. its a job where anyone can see your abilities. this is just dreadfull to me! anyways a little rant there but joe you did an amazing job! that g35 finally got the justice you deserved and i hope you charged them an arm and a leg just to prove a point!!!! nice work man!

Top notch worl Joe as always. Did either stealership see the final product?

I sent a copy of all the pictures with the customer as the service advisor requested to see the car after it was finished. I invited him to come ny and have coffee at our shop, but of course he didn't make it. He will see it one way or another.

BTW, the reason that he wanted to see it is because his guys told him, "all black cars will look lke that after being buffed." :D

THANKS!

joe, hopefully more people will come to your shop after the dealership hacks their cars. you do things the right way, the first time...

The dealerships I sold cars at did not really have "Detailers", rather guys that washed the cars and ruined the paint with machines. No offense to any here that work for dealers. But around here that was the way it was/is. I just got a new car and specified that no exterior washing on the buyers order. Nice recovery.
