LaserWash- what do u guys think......

A friend of mine goes to Florida every month ad he really likes this touchfree car wash. R u familiar with this? What do u think?

I live in NYC and we dont have one yet.

I use the LaserWash when the winter weather prevents me from hand washing. As David said, they are not bad. The local one I use does not use recycled water nor overly strong chemicals and I have not seen any stripping of my LSP. Clearly better than leaving all the salt, sand and winter slop on my paint.

I usually do follow up with a Quik Detailer and a Quik Wax to keep up the slickness.

I used a local one here for a couple times in the winter when it first opened. Then one time when it was drying it dripped some chemical on my back window that etched it.

A couple years later I read a bulletin Honda had for their dealerships telling them that they won't warranty glass damage caused by the chemicals those places use.

There are quite a few long threads out there about are they bad or aren't they but all it took was the one time getting the cleaning chemical dripped on the car without a rinse to neutralize it and I won't go there anymore.

Do a search for laserwash, lots of good info. When the machine is running correctly and your operator isn't using re-cycled water, its decent. Otherwise, you can have problems. ONR to the rescue.

yep, when our house was first built I half joked that I should have had them put a drain in the garage so I could wash the car inside in the winter, now I can do it without a drain :)

Noting the usual caveats that apply to any carwash (IMO what happened to zmanz is always a possibility), the laser-type ones usually seem OK IME. I run service loaners through them and Accumulatorette runs the A8 through one in TN.

Heh heh, I suspect my contractor thought I was kidding at first too..then I pulled out my detailed specs for the floor drains and the oil-separator :D
