Send the following query to Langka on 10/10. They haven't bothered to reply, so thought I'd post it here. Feel free to jump in....



Dear Langka,



Before I became "autopian" I slopped on some touch up paint on the paint dings on my red vehicle. Now the blobs are about a year old and are bugging the heck out of me. Right now I am looking at wet sanding the blobs down, but because of their thickness, I'm afraid to attack them for fear of cutting through the clearcoat and color layers surrounding them.



Given the age and thickness of the crude touch ups, will your product still be able to "erode" the top layers so I can get a relatively smooth paint finish back? What will your product do to the original factory clearcoat surrounding the blobs?

It will work on year old touch-up, albeit slowly (which I happen to think is better).



Apply some Langka juice to an all cotton t-shirt wrapped around the blue card, and rub gently back and forth. You'll see red appear on the t-shirt from the touch-up, because (most likely) the OE paint is 2 stage.



It won't do anything to the OE clearcoat paint surrounding the blob, so have no fear.
 
I've used Langka on my Pearl Black MB and noted the following.



- It will remove old touch up paint but it will take some serious time.



- It will also slowly remove the clearcoat around the touch up. Langka has abrasives in it which will remove the clear coat albeit at a slower rate than it removes the touch up paint. Although I will say that this occurred due to the touch up paint being to dry to remove easily thus requiring a bit of effort. It has a consistency of Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound when you rub it on your fingers just for comparison sake. (Yes it's gritty)



- Langka enhances metallic paint touch up by bringing out the metallic flakes which tend to settle at the bottom of the chip.



- Langka should only be used with a cloth that has a very very tight weave. I initially used an old cheap T-Shirt and found that it left marks in my clearcoat due to the uneven surface of the T-Shirt.:nono I'd suggest finding an old bedsheet with very high thread count to provide an perfect even surface.



- Langka has a learning curve, use it initially in areas which are not easily seen and note it's affects on your paint before moving on to the hood etc.



- Even with it's negatives I would recommend it when touching up paint. Once you figure out how your touch up paint and existing paint react to the product you can produce nearly perfect results.

Really? For me they floated on the top and were whisked away when I leveled the blob. Did you let the Langka dry for a while for the chips to settle? Like 2 days?

I applied the touch up paint to the car over a period of 4 days. I applied a very thin layer each day until the chip was filled. After the last application I waited 24 hours before using Langka. Honestly I think that was my mistake. I should have used the Langka within 1.5 Hours after the last application. My touch up paint dries quickly and is also very hard which makes it very difficult to remove once applied. The spots I touched up dried to a dark grey color with no metalic flakes showing at all. After using Langka I noted that the touched up areas started to get lighter as the silver flakes were brought to the surface. Maybe it's just my paint? :nixweiss



I'm going to touch up a few new chips in the next few weeks and I'll try to take some good before and after pictures to display the metallic enhancement.
