Getting ready to purchase some lake country pads for the first time.



LC Yellow Cutting Pad - Heavy/Medium cut? Bigger scratches and swirls?

LC Orange Light Cutting Pad - Light Cut - Light swirls from washing and such?

LC White Polishing Pad - Final Polish? Removing haze and micromaring? FPII?

LC Grey Finishing Pad -

LC Blue Finessing Pad -





I am probably going to buy 2 or 3 of each to have extras for different things but I am lost when it comes to the Grey and Blue pad. What is the difference really?



Im going to use menzerna or pinnacle but im not sure yet. The wax Ill put on will be paste.
 
Looks good, use a combination of menzerna and pinnacle. Pinnacle for wax, menzerna for abrasives. Also dont forget the RMG or Danase speed glaze!
 
Polishing as well. I use white for most polishing but if I am using a very light polish or glaze I use grey.

Get the 6.5" pads, NOT the 6" ones.



I have had 5 or 6 backing failures with 6" pads and speed 6, and none with 6.5"... My 6.5" pads have lasted 2 years! Haven't needed to toss a single one, while I have tossed 10-15 6" pads.



LakeCountry 6.5" pads are the only ones I will buy :)



All you need are 3 orange, 2 white, and 1 blue. More is better :)



That is per car, if you intend to do 2 cars in a day, you need double.
 
Which LC pads are you talking about? They make a few. I would get the yellow cutting (so you can have the most aggessive possibility), white polishing (enough to take out everything from yellow pad and wont leave marring) and also the blue finishing, because you would want the least aggressive pad possible for the last step.



My best advice is to make sure you get a 7.5" cutting pad (because you'll apply some extra pressure with the cutting pad, and the smaller 6" pads don't have a backing plate to cover the entire velcro adaptor, so they get cut up much easier).



I have the LC VC 7.5" Yellow Cutting (2), LC Flat 6" White Polishing (2), LC Flat 6" Black Finish (2).



You don't have to pick up every single pad type, choose one from each section and buy two of them (so you can quickly change the polish on the same pad if the one polish isn't cutting it).

It is a well know fact that the smaller the pad on the PC the more cut it will have

so I don't think your cutting pad should be bigger just get the correct size backing plate
 
I also recommend you get the Orange 6.5" over the yellow. Yellow is so agressive it can micromarr beyond repair on softer paints... While the Orange cutting pad leaves the finish very close to LSP ready... With nearly the same cut!



I have stopped using the yellow pads because of that, and am much happier without them!
 
if you're going to get the wolfgang 6.5 flat pads (a.k.a. Lake Country), i would suggest getting them quickly at autogeek as they're on blowout/clearance!

Sweet. Do they compare well to the CCS pads? Are the CCS worth the extra $4?

i haven't used the ccs pads yet, but i don't see myself not using regular flat pads ever. i've placed a pretty good order for those 6.5 flat pads, you can't beat the price. i know they are getting pretty low, and once they are gone... they won't carry them anymore.

Try Danase for the CSS pads..he has them in 5 1/4 inch...great size for a PC...work great..I bought a bunch off him and great price and service....get a 4 inch plate and you have a great polishing system...

They're actually 5".



I bought a bunch too . . . will hopefully try them out this weekend :)
