Klasse SG Coating, how many do you have?

I now have about 8 coats of Klasse SG.

Just want to know how many Klasse SG coatings have you guys tried and what are your experiences for every coat of Klasse SG that gets layered on your paint surface / SG surface.

On silver, I got diminishing returns looks-wise after five layers (plus I always have to start on a different vehicle before I get too many on there). I *DO* think that even more (like you're doing) will give added protection though. I didn't really notice anything worth mentioning as far as differences in application/removal of x-number of layers.

With 5 layers, when the carnauba topper wore off I was still well protected for many months. Now my SG cars don't get a topper (spend the time trying to get the Jag good enough to drive, the year's going fast!).

Currently have just one. I can't seem to get it together enough to put more than 2 or 3 coats before I need to do some minor paint cleaning and all, so I break out the AIO and start over.

I don't remember where you stand on the "claying does/does not remove SG" issue, but I find that a VERY gentle spot-claying (while washing) doesn't remove an appreciable amount of my SG. This helps me keep the paint clean (while I get those layers built up) to where I only have to do a full (back to bare paint) detail once or twice a year on my SG'ed vehicles. But then I'm starting to realize that most of my vehicles are quite pampered, being garaged all the time and all (Volvo excepted).

I am ok with claying and layering SG. The problem is that I park outdoors (one car garage), so quite often, I find claying is not enough to get the paint as clean as I want it. Last week, I did do just SG on the roof, hood and trunk after claying, but for the sides of the car, I still AIO'd first.

i've got 5 layers on top surfaces and nothing on the sides. i had s100 on, but that's probably all gone by now.

I had three topped with souveran ( platinum though) Last time I detailed my car I had like 5 coats of SG topped with P21S

OK, the outdoors business makes all the difference (my Volvo sympathizes with your situation).

For my "show" car ('03 Polar Silver Porsche 996 TT almost always garaged and always covered) i have one coat of SG, and then went over it 3x with Paste Glaz.

For the Behemoth ('03 Black Escalade ESV never garaged) I have 2 coats of SG and 2 of Soveran. I would like to get at least 3 (or better yet 4 coats) but time and rain always seem to be a factor.

For the convertable ( '99 Black M3, garaged and covered) I have 2 coats of SG and 2 of Soveran.

I am typically washing/waxing a car a week and though i am never truly satisfied with my detail jobs, I cant really complain about how they are holding up either.

I have 3 coats of SG on my F150 topped with S100.

On my 4 Runner I have 2 coats of SG. On the 4Runner, the color is Millennium Silver and I feel that the SG really brings out the metallic in the paint. I like the look so much that I don't use a carnuaba topper.

I had about 7 or 8 coats of SG on my vehicle once, and the look of the car turned to a dark wet shine and had a candy coated look without the sparkle. It looked good, just gave a totally different look than with 2 coats. Klass SG does not seem to be optically clear as some sealants claim to be. If you have a paint job with shiny metallic flakes I suppose many coats of Klasse SG would kill it. I believe I read a few posts about that problem. But on the positive side SG is definitely layerable and will offer you great protection.

waxman,

I agree when you said "Klass SG does not seem to be optically clear as some sealants claim to be"

I am now on my 8th coating and I do not notice my previous micro swirls and micro scratches from my 4th coating and below. I just notice them under a flourecent lamp but from the ordinary day light they are unoticeable.

Also, I noticed that my 3rd coating is a more bright than my current 8th coating. Also, Klasse SG do change the color tone of your paint surface. My SUV color is copper orange, when I applied Klasse it turned out looking more of maroon or dark red.

See this picture http://www.www.com.ph/jaim/jaim-xuv-01.jpg

does it look like a copper orange paint or more of a dark red or maroon.

Overall, I am very happy with my 8 coats and will continue to add more. I plan to strip my coatings by end of year using Klasse AIO. I want to validate if those scratches or swirls are just within my Klasse SG layer and not on my clear coat. If so, then I can conclude that Klasse SG thickens to the extent of "catching" the minor swirls and scratches on the paint surface. This is good because I need not use any abrasive to thin my clear coat just to remove those micro swirls and micro scratches.

Yes, it does have a little more of a red color than orange or copper. But with 8 coats of SG you shouldn't have to worry about any UV rays getting through or much of anything else :)

Until I had some paint work done (body shop repair), I had three coats of SG...would love to have put more on, but it's tricky as I live in NYC and access to a hose is limited

I'm applying SG coats one by one. Each time I wash, I apply a coat. Sometimes I feel that I should just start over with the AIO but I figure it couldn't hurt. Definitely need to do some claying prior to layering the SG.
