Klasse Sealant Glaze

Need an opinion. I have just finished detailing the exterior of my '01 Jaguar XK8. My process:wash with Zymol, clay with Griot's, wash with Zymol, prep with Klasse AIO, wax with P 21S. Everything looked great when I was finished. I decide to try some Klasse Sealant Glaze on the trunk lid area to see if it would enhance the appearance-used the "wipe on, wipe off" method. I could not see a marked improvement. Two questions:Am I wasting my time with the sealant, and secondly, regardless of the appearance, does the sealant afford a greater degree of protection to the surface? Thanks for the help.

First rule: SG does not bond to Carnuba wax, so basically you were wasting your time applying SG over it :o

Now, SG does give a long term protection and a great shine after the 3rd coat, if correctly applied above AIO.

You can also skip it and go from AIO to P21S CW with great results, tho you're not sealing the paint and it wont be as durable.

Ah, you should have done the SG before the P21s wax. It (the SG) has to go on top of the AIO to bond properly. It then needs about 24 hrs before you put anything on top of it.

If you want to try again, just go over a panel with AIO, this will remove your P21s and then apply your SG with the WOO method, leave 24 hrs and then re-apply your P21S wax.

The sealant gives a much higher degree of protection compared to a carnauba wax.

Never use SG on top of a carnauba, as everyone said, you could do SG and then carnauba on top, this is used by a lot of people.

In addition, "panel" comparison usually is hard to do... You see more differences if you do a half and half or better yet, strip off and do the whole car and observe "objectively"...

This is why I find it odd that all the Klasse/P21S kits dont include SG. I'm not a Klasse fan at all, but I'd definately put SG (a few coats even) in between AIO and P21S. AIO offers little protection in the long haul compared to SG, and P21S isn't one of the more durable protectants so to me, an SG topped with P21S is ideal, re wax with the P21S for look and have the SG backup there for protection.

The reason why SG is not packaged in those kits is bacause SG and carnuba do not entirely get along. In some ,rare instances the carnuba topper will actually 'sit' on top of the SG. It can streak, smear and create a holgram type illusion in the paint. Not too pretty. I experienced it on a section of my hood two summers ago. It didn't bother me enough to strip it off though.

Not to brag! I have a detail shop in Los Angeles and found that two products gave me good Deep & clarity and smoothness to black and dark color paints.

Zymol Vintage wax used with Zymol HD cleanse

Zaino Brothers Show car polish with the new ZFX accelator.

Now thes two are only finishing products so preparing the paint surface is a different story.
