Klasse Info Overload

Since I decited to dump NuFinish and go with the Klasse Twins I think I read hundreds of threads on Klasse:eek:

Somewhere I think I read Twin #2, SG can stay over night and take off the next day.

True or False.

The Twins arrived today about 2:00pm.

I started working on my Miata about 2:10

It took about 3 hrs. to wash, clay, and use the twins.

NuFinish + S100 gave the emeraled mica green a good deep shine.

Looks to me and my other 1/2 that the twins' did a better job.

I can't wait to add more SG.

...but you need to have your car in a clean area to pull it off. If abrasive dust settles on it overnight then

You'll like it- the kids in my neighborhood ask how I get my girl's car so shiny!

*TRUE* Is an overnight wait necessary? No. Might it make things even easier? Yes.

Glad to hear the twins are out performing your previous product. I'm one of the SG-overnighters. IN MY EXPERIENCE, letting the SG cure overnight makes removal even easier than it is after the "usual" set up time (and I ALWAYS find it easy anyhow). As an experiment, I once let it sit for SEVERAL DAYS. Even where I had (intentionally) applied it quite thick, it came off easily. This was using a (dry) "suede-style" MF and fogging the surface with my breath (my preferred method of SG removal).

BTW, the next few layers of SG should look even MORE impressive.

I myself have done a tremendous amount of reading on Klasse Twins and now use them myself. Based on the info I've read, the best way to apply the twins is to do two applications of AIO. The first is to clean and the second is to cover any missed areas and give a better coat. You should apply SG and remove it, then wait 24hrs before applying another coat. It needs time to cure before adding additonal coats. That's great that your work looks killer. The look will actually get better with each additional coat. 3-5 coats seems to be the best number.

Hope this helps you out.

I let SG stay on over night. I apply SG late in the evening with the car parked under a carport. The next morning I buff using the two towel method which is one damp mf followed by a dry mf one panel at a time. Though I have used SG after a two hour wait I find the overnight method is much easier. I have tried waiting less but since SG works so well this way ( waiting over night)why fight it.

good luck

There are different opinions about topping Klasse with a carnuaba wax. Some say to just use the AIO, no SG, then the wax. Others say use both, then the wax. Any comments about your experiences with these?

Great question to the forum. I too just received my Kalsse twins and am anxious to apply to our new 2003 Honda Pilot.

Here is my problem - We do not have a garage and live out in the mountains where lots of dust and dirt can fly around (garage will not be completed for another 6 months or so). So regarding the SG question of leaving overnight, given my situation, would you not leave it on overnight, for fear of scratching car? Or, couls the SG be left on overnight and the car washed the next morning or would that just create a big mess? I have never used Klasse before.

Come to think of it, I have hardly ever used a wax, as my other car was a real beater whose paint was not worthy! But, with my new car, I want to keep it looking like new. Thanks for all the feedback and this site

Congratulations on the Pilot. What color is it?

In my opinion, you would not want to leave it on overnight outdoors. In your given situation, I personally would only let Klasse SG sit for 20 minutes to dry before removing it.

I think washing after an overnight KSG drying wouldn't be a good idea, either. I would imagine that dirt particles would imbed itself into the SG, and the car wash soap would have a harder time dislodging them. This possibly incomplete wash would increase the risk of inducing scratches during drying.

I had the hardest time with completely removing SG off my black car; no matter what I did I always wound up with some haze- until I tried Sonus Acrylic Spritz. I just came back from removing an SG application with it. When I used it last week I noticed a considerably reduced amount of hazing, and hopefully when I drive this car out tomorrow I will continue to see this lack of haze. Just a heads up, in case you run into any similar problems. :)

Mtnsummit- I'm one of the "SG overnighters", but in *YOUR* situation I'd just let it set up as long as you can (at LEAST 20 minutes, the longer the better) and then remove it. As raymond_ho2002 said, the Sonus QD can help if you get hazing, which really is usually caused by a too-thick application. Until you've done it a few times, you just can't IMAGINE how thin this stuff should be applied.

I did my first time Klasse application yesterday. I spent a good 8 hours washing, claying, then applying Pinnacle paint cleaner. Then proceeded with the AIO, doing one section at a time. On the lower sections I did this twice. My wifes car is a 01 Chrysler 300 which was a lease car so I'm doubting it had good paint maintenance.

After all this was done I applied the SG and let it sit overnight in an insulated airtight garage (used to be a paint booth). I found that it was a bit tacky in the morning which I attribute to the garage not being vented and holding in moisture. After opening the door and letting it sit for an hour with fresh air it came off much easier.

One thing I found is that you almost can't use SMALL enough amount of all these products. On first application you could tell there was too much going on, so I kept adding less and less. This was confirmed on buffing it off. The areas with less came off much easier.

The mile deep shine is fantastic! After the one app of SG I took the car to my wife at work to surprise her. Of course it rained before she saw it! But it was amazing at how the water beaded up, almost looked like marbles on the car. When the sun came out and dryed the rain there were no rain spots unless you got very close and at just the right angle. Also the powercoated rims came out fantastic!

I've use Zaino in the past but not close enough to compare the two. Zaino lasted a year on my 91 Z-34 which would not hold any wax or sealant for more then 4-6 weeks. But I'm happy enough with the twins to keep using them. Next project is my Stealth which has major paint swirls and cloudiness.

Back when I used SG I would apply late Saturday afternoon and just leave on the car overnight (outside) and just do a lite wash in the AM. That's how much I disliked removal.

Thanks for the Klasse info guys. And the Pilot is Silver. When you mention "Haze", what exactly is that? It sounds like it is more noticeable on darker (black) cars the lighter ones?

Here are the other products I purchased to detail the Pilot and hopefully keep it looking new. Any comments good or bad welcomed

For Wax/Polish - Klasse All in One and the Sealant

Clay - Mothers Kit

Wheel Clean - P21S Wheel Cleaner

Bug & Scum Removal - P21S Total Auto Wash

Plastic - Plexus

Tire Clean - Eimann Fabrik Tire Cleaner

Tire Dressing - Lexol Vinylex

Glass - Stoners Brand

Now if I can just find time to use all of this stuff, I will be happy :)

The haze looks like a hologram that follows the pattern of your removal swipes. As far as I can tell, my hologram/hazing comes from incomplete removal of product. For some reason I still always have some residual haze on my hood, no matter how careful I am. No matter, they are only visible at certain angles at certain times of the day. :D I've never used klasse on any color other than black, but I'd imagine silver would hide it, since the haze itself is silvery.

I use two micro towles to remove Klasse.

One is slightly damp, the other dry.

First the damp one, then dry.

Works great, no haze on my emerald green.

Well, silver *IS* a rather forgiving color (that's one reason why I have so many silver cars :D ), but if you use harsh enough lighting (and/or magnification), you can still see any problems. When my BFII hazed, I could see it when the lighting was right.

*IF* you preceded your SG application with AIO, then any hazing/smearing, etc. *IS* from incomlete removal as you suspected. Same ole same ole: gotta apply it *THIN*. It just takes a little experience to use as little SG as is REALLY required. *GOOD*, plush MF's REALLY help in removal, too, as does letting it cure longer. Suede-style MF's, used on a RO, are a WONDERFUL final buff for SG. Using them oughta eliminate any remaining hazing, especially if you breath on (fog) the surface before/during the buffing.

Application tip: *I* go by FEEL. Once you get a (very) little SG on the surface, the applicator "glides" over it a little better than it does on a NON-SGed surface. I apply it SO thin that I can't see it on silver under normal lighting conditions. I CAN see it if I fog the surface with my breath, however (or get serious about my lighting).

Using Sonus to remove KSG has made life so much easier. It's not critical if you use too much product. Just spray on Sonus and buff to a brillant shine.

It's fool proof!
