Klasse AIO/SG and wax???

Hello all, please have pity on a newbie question. After using Klasse All-In-One and Sealant Glaze should you still use wax, or is the Sealant Glaze good enough? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
Really up to you and what you're looking to accomplish. IF you top with a wax, you're done with layering SG; SG will not bond well to wax, so make sure you've got the number of layers of SG you want IF you decide to wax.



My personal preference with SG is to layer at least 3X. Sure you can wax but I don't see much of a difference and what added protection the wax may provide, the 3X SG is more than enough by itself to go a good 6+ months.



Some Sonus spritz will help maintain the slickness or another good detail spray.



Try multiple layers of SG and then try topping to see what you personally like.
 
Completely up to your own personal preference, which takes some time to evaluate. It also depends if your car is garaged and what your local weather is like.



Here in Georgia, with two cars garaged I ran my own tests and finally settled on the products and steps that work for my situation. But it took some testing and waiting (24 hour comparison, 7 day comparison, 2 or 3 week comparison) then having to carefully compare body panels for results.



I didn't find taping sections to be helpful since anthing smaller than a body panel didn't show enough difference for me to be able to evaluate what I like best.



The general consensus seems to be to use a sealant (maybe up to 3 layers) then top (maybe up to 3 layers). I didn't see any benefit doing this, I understand the arguments but I literally mean I didn't see a superior final result and since I didn't have any problems with durability, why do it.



I'd be a bit careful of just jumping to the conclusion (not that you did) that more layers of more products produce a superior end result. What I mean is that if you wait a few weeks and throw another layer of "anything" on it'll look like an improvement for at least a few days.



Checking out the products and determining what you like is lot's of fun, although it does chew up some time. Just about any of the products discussed here, and the steps discussed too, produce better results than anyone else in the neighborhood so you can't go wrong, it's all good.
 
And the AIO, it will be just one layer? And between each application of SG, how much time you need to wait?

I'd say AIO x2, SG x5. If you're not happy, add your wax. I like Souveran x2 on top the best. Also tried NXT paste and while not as good, it's very good looking by any standard. I have a sapphire blue metallic car. On black, AIO x2 and Souveran.

Nothing wrong at all with this method/ advice



AIO is a chemical cleaner (with a mild abrasive) so the thhought behind the X2 is to ensure complete coverage



SG with a cross-link period inbetween each

(Approximate cross-link period 60oF- 36 hours, 70oF-48 hours, 80oF- 24 hours (cross-linking is a function of / temperature / humidity / time) I have found that x3 gives max look but experiment...that's half the fun



Last step product (LSP) once you are satified with the SG a Carnauba wax (ie Souveran) can be applied

Did you type that backwards? 36hr, 48hr, 24hr? If that's correct, I certainly don't understand the logic there.
 
I would advise that once you get how ever many layers of SG on that you want. Top it with a wax, but not on the whole car. Do maybe half of the hood and see if you like the differance. I topped my SGx4 with S100 and I am not sure if there was a differance or not. If I would have only done one panel I would be able to know for certain if I liked the look or not.
 
Thanks for all the great information. So it looks like the consensus is 2 applications of AIO followed by 2 or 3 applications of SG (with a 24 hours cure time in between applications) and then waxing if desired. This now brings up two questions. The first is should the car be garaged and not driven while SG is curing? The second is how should the car be prepped for the 2nd/3rd application/s, just wipe of with a MF towel to remove any dust?
 
bmwbear- theoretically: Polymers are hydrophobic so avoid rain, quick detailers that contain water or washing vehicle until product is fully set-up (cured)



Iwould not 'dry dust ' a paint surface, rinse the surface with clean water and then dry before applying 2/3rd applications

LOL... Thanks Sebony, with all the time its going to take I might just need to take a weeks vacation... Luckily I have another car I can drive while SG is curring on the M3.

So, from what I understand, AIO 2x, then SG 3x, waxing over that is optional. Here is another question i'd like to add to this thread though that i'm curious about.. I understand you need 24hrs in between the SG to cure, but how about the AIO?. Any curing time from 1st coat to the second?. And after the second, can the 1st layer of SG be applied right away?.



The other question is how to apply it regarding pads. I have a bonnet pad, a cutting pad, a polishing pad, and a buffer pad. What pad should be used to apply what product?.. and what pad (if any) should be used to remove what product?.

You don't really need to use AIO x2 unless your finish is badly oxidized or you just want to make sure you didn't miss any areas. No wait is required between AIO (if you do x2) or before the 1st coat of SG.



I apply AIO with a polish or light polish pad and remove with a MF. I apply SG with a MF applicator and also remove with a MF. Sometimes I'll go over it again with a MF bonnet on the PC as a final buff. Good luck and post some pics when you're finished!

Does AIO or SG do anything to vinyl graphics?. My car has vinyl ghost flames, do I need to go inbetween them and try to not have the AIO or SG touch it?

No, you'll be fine with AIO and SG on your flames, when you apply just don't dwell on them with the PC and go in the direction of the edges rather than against them.
 
I just finished with AIO and a layer of SG last night. I however had to drive to work today and I got some pollen on the car. Would it be ok to hit it with some Meguiars Quick Detailer, wipe and then apply a 2nd coat of SG?

The logic is; dyslexia strikes again-the colder the temp the longer drying timeâ€Â¦Thanks for the correction Speedwagon :cool:
