Klasse AIO needed after Menzerna FP II?

my usual detailing goes something like this

wash, clay, wash, Klasse All-In-One, Klasse SG x2, S100

But this time, due to excessive scratches caused by a bad clay bar, I did one pass with some 3M Perfect-It II Rubbing compound with the orange cutting pad, followed by Menzerna Final Polish II with the white polishing pad (+ PC 7424).

Im wondering if I really need to do a pass with the AIO before I apply the SG. Paint looks very good now after the FP II (no scratches under bright halogen light), and I'd really like to save some effort if I can

I've wondered about that myself...including whether the (very mild) abrasives in KAIO might somehow diminish the kind of finish that a product like FPII leaves behind

Nonetheless, I still use the KAIO every time before I apply the KSG. IF you decide not to do that, I'd at least do an IPA/PrepWash wipedown to make sure you got rid of any oils from the Menzerna. Heh heh, I'd probably do that anyway though...and it'd probably be a bigger hassle than doing the KAIO!

I ended up doing a layer of AIO, and Im glad I did. Although the FPII left a very nice finish, I think the AIO enhanced it. It looks wetter now, and feels slicker to the touch. Time to start layering the SG.

That was probably a good idea. And yeah, the KAIO might not leave much stuff behind, but it does do *something*.

FWIW, I'd rather have many layers of KSG on there than use a wax topper, but that's just me.

Maybe I've never applied SG the proper way, but I've always found that S100 topper leaves a wetter finish than SG alone.

But then again, maybe that's because previously I wasn't allowing SG to cure for 24 hrs between coats like this thread calls for. This is the first time Im detailing in my own garage, so now I have the luxury of time.

Ah..if you don't need to get it back on the road really quick, I'd try layering the KSG (I'd go for at least 4 layers, and I do 6, about 24 hours apart) and *then* decide if you want to top it.

KAIO, 2 coats of WGDGPS and a coat of Fuzion looks amazing. And KAIO and WGDGPS itself looked great, just wanted a few extra layers for coverage and winter protection.
