Karma/Reputation

Well, I've noticed that I have made some members a little mad in some of my posts, and 3 of yall have given me negative reputation/karma.

(Edit: comment removed) We want the rep system to be a legitimate help to members. Please no loading of the system. It isn't designed to be either a popularity contest or a way to "stir the pot" with someone. It is designed to help show someone who is helpful, credible as a poster or someone with good ideas/practices.

The negative karma/rep will disappear as quickly as it came as people see you to fit the definition above. Someone who acquires serious negative rep points typically won't be a forum member for long. We would like to keep all valued members on the forum and actively participating in discussion.

I'm pretty sure Empire's rep issues go back to calling Rabbi a liar: http://www.detailcity.org/forums/lsps-last-step-products/24678-two-layers-nattys-red.html. No, I didn't give him negative rep but if you followed the thread you can tell it wasn't appreciated. As I indicated in that thread I'm pretty sure what was said was in jest. In fact he can go back to that thread and click on the rep icon in his post and see who responded and what they said.

I don't follow what you are saying about clicking on the rep icon? I looked but don't see how to?

Also what is the permalink feature for?

The icon in the lower left hand corner of your post (second icon from the left) is the the rep icon. If you click on it in any post you have made it will tell you if someone has given you rep for that specific post. If they haven't it will just tell you your total rep points and say that this post hasn't received any points. I too haven't completely figured out the permalink feature. I believe it is related to the link back system (which I don't use). Wiki gives this definition for what it's worth.

A permalink is a URL that points to a specific blog or bluehostforum.com - Powered by vBulletin entry after it has passed from the front page to the archives. Because a permalink remains unchanged indefinitely, it is less susceptible to link rot.
