Anyone see the video on the web with Mike Myers and Kanye West hosting part of the American Red Cross benefit for Katrina? I won't get into the details of what he said, just do a search for the video and you'll find it.

It really, really ticks me off when during an event like this people have to "share" their own opinions on things. West is a two faced person who I acutally respected for a little while early on in his career. Now, I'd like to find him and :boxing: :chair:

Ahhh, I feel so much better now.

yea i know that nbc (is that the one) was quick to put out a letter saying that he didnt stick to the script he was on orginaly

Kanye is a racist. To imply Bush was not doing everything he could do to race is a divisive and disgraceful thing to say.

He showed his ignorance.

i heard of what he said and comments like his and others are what keeps seperating america. is it fair for colored persons to call white people crackers? no. but it is done. and acceptable. let that be done viseversa and u'd see the controvery just building up.

i watch comedy skits on comedy central, hbo, and other channels and i constantly see jokes pertaining a colored comedian making fun a white person. thats not right. racism should not be acceptable in ANY WAY shape or form.

its become sort of a lose lose situation.

in some ways i think people like kanye west and others want that.

i was listenign to the radio the other day and right aftre putting 4 bucks into a firemans boot i hear the radio dj mention that 75% of all effected are colored. then goes on to say to "lets please help our black brothers and sisters". thats not right. neither is it right for a dj to say the same about white persons.its just not right.

why divide races in a time when souls and emotions are most sensitive. why add to resentment to people who already feel like the world has forgotten them

all in all what kanye said could have just been a way to promote his just released album to the colored population.

but ill stand and hope for the day i can see america truly be what america talks about being.

The response from the President Bush was SLOW[4DAYS] plain and simple people in the tsunami got quicker HELP from the USA than their own. THATS WHATS WRONG !!!
It should NEVER be about color but it is. It funny how Jesse Jackson can get 4 buses loaded with food and medicine before the US goverment. Stop closing your eyes to the fact Lousiana was LAST.
I WONT GIVE TO THE RED CROSS BECAUSE OF 9/11 and what they did with the money that was donated half was used for adminstrative issues in the RED CROSS until they was force to give it back. So our church sponsored a family of 10 we have donated clothes. My wife is doing the female hairs they have a home until Jan 2006 and have jobs line up for them. What K.West said was his opinion.Yes COLOR has alot to do with it, That's how I lost 2 supervisor position @ two different jobs BECAUSE OF MY COLOR A BLACK MAN understand these employees NEVER had the experience like I did but they was WHITE. Look at Tyson food they have discrimination lawsuit against them I guess you can say some of americas eyes are WIDE shut:gathering

Race is only an issue because people make it an issue. Black, white, green, yellow, purple..... You get where you are and have what you have by working for it - plain and simple. The same is true for what you don't have. The opportunities in this country are more plentiful than anywhere else in the world. If you can't make something of yourself here, then you have problems. I understand the repsonse was slow, and I don't agree with everything that has been done, but stop being ignorant and calling the race card. If you don't like it here in the US, no one is making you stay - make preparations to leave and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

He seemed like a somewhat intelligent "rapper" when I would see him on different shows. After this I have lost all my respect for him, and refuse to listen to his music(not that I really did to begine with). I also hear he comes from a really wealthy family, and never really struggled through his life, like many other rappers. I don't know who this guy thinks he is to say "his people" are treated so badly, and to personally bash our president in a time like this.

I have a question, and I'm not trying to argue or anything I'd just like a reasonable answer. Please note this has nothing to do with what's currently happening in the south, 9/11, watergate, vietnam, whatever, just a general question...

Why is it wrong to critisize a president when there just happens to be some sort of national emergency happening? Doesn't that seem like the *right* time to critisize them?

I would really like to know why I keep hearing people say "It's not the time to question the president". I ask because after 9/11, during the Iraq war, and now I hear/see people saying that quite a bit, and it puzzles me...Isn't this America? Isn't questioning the government the idea behind a democracy? Shouldn't they *be* accountable to us?

I see your eyes are WIDE SHUT!! The purpose of our goverment is help EVERYONE.Alabama/Tyson food dicrimination lawsuit the comments you make is OUTRAGEOUS to say the least and YES we was brought over here we had no choice Just like know spliting up black families sending them allover different staes.Just like the slave day no say so in where they send you. To be fair Let me explain I'm a black male that FIGHT everyday for what I got. At my so called job that I had for 6 month that I got terminated for speaking up for my rights as an employee who follows rule and regulation to the letter was seing things I did not agree with and spoke up about it then I was dismiss for hostile Intimidation The word I used was DIVERSITY there was NONE there at all. White employees getting put in position after being there for less than 4 months without the position being posted FOR EVERYONE to apply for.No BLACK supervisor and the one we had was fired and he had to get a lawyer to get his job back NOT his position. NEW AGAIN -

I am not going to get into a personal battle with you or anything, but from the sounds of both your posts you seem to have some misdirected anger.

Point A: The world doesn't owe you anything. The sooner you get over this, the better off you'll be. Too many people, especially the younger generation, have this attitude that society owes them something - be it a job, wealth, etc.

Point B: If you want to talk discrimination and how you have been historically wronged, that's fine, but let me tell you that no other "race" has been persecuted more than the Jewish people. I don't even have to go into detail about that. My point is, I don't go around crying discrimination every time I don't get something that society "owes" me. Get over it.

My post was made as a general statement about society today, but since you took it personally, you might want to look at how you "spoke up for your rights." the reason you were fired might not have been for speaking up, but more for how it was done.

That's all I have to say about it.

I understand that emotions are running deep in regards to the response to this tragedy, please lets try to keep civil about this and could we please curb the language.

This is a family friendly forum

Thanks for your help and understanding

Jeeeeze guys... let's just drop this thread, shall we? It isn't contributing anything to the commuinty other than allowing feelings to become hurt and tensions to rise.
