First off, I just want to thank all the posters on this forum for the endless stream of great information. I'll be able to take my car care and OCD to the next level.
Recently, I contacted JW asking for a comparison of their products with what I have been useing. I thought their answer was worth passing along.
Question:
I am interested in your products, but am not sure what to expect from them. I have been using Zaino Z2 and Z5 with P21S carnauba on top. What differences would I see with your products?
Answer:
Thank you for contacting the Werkstatt. We appreciate your interest in our products.
Unfortunately, your question is a very difficult one for us to answer. We do not formally test our products with or in comparison to those of other manufacturers. We prefer to let our customers make those determinations and value judgements for themselves because it can be so subjective. Besides, we're totally biased!
However, perhaps we can just make a few general comments on some of the comparative merits of the Werkstatt system.
Our polymer technology is developed around acrylic chemistry whereas items like Zaino are developed around polydimethylsiloxane chemistry (a form of silicone). While there is nothing wrong with PDMS chemistry, we do feel that core acrylic polymers are better suited to the rigorous task of car care. We feel the protective capabilities are better and the longevity of the polymers on the paint surface are better. Not only is this important when using our products alone, but if topping with other paste waxes like the P21S, it will withstand the solvents in these products better, creating a better overall "system" on the paint.
The further advantage of our proprietary acrylic-based polymers is the optical characteristics that ultimately produce our unique look. Outside of optical glass, acrylic compounds have the purest optics of any material, measured by light transmittance, reflectance, and such. But what really matters is how that affects the overall appearance of the detailed vehicle. It is because of these characteristics that our products are known for their outstanding clarity, uniform reflectivity, and brilliant wet gloss.
Plus, if you enjoy the aesthetics and protection of carnauba waxes, our Carnauba Jett offers a unique, fully-compatible way of incorporating the wax into a system of sealants. It is one of the few--if only--waxes designed to be backwards compatible with the sealants, such that you can add further layers of the AJ/AJT sealants over CJ.
Hopefully this has been of some interest to you. We believe that our Werkstatt products offer a unique system of car care, one that can be fully tailored to your individual needs and desires. Ultimately though, the only way to know if a product is going to produce the results is to test it yourself.
If you have any other questions that we can answer, please feel free to reply back at any time.
Happy Detailing!
