Just Want to Say Hello

Have been visiting this site for the past week or so and thanks to the 'Secret Decoder Ring' am beginning to understand more and more of what you folks are saying. In addition to that it's all starting to become addictive!

Have attached a photo of my car taken last November just after getting it restored. It's a 1964 Jaguar XKE (E-type) that I had painted in its original Golden Sand color. Paint used was Glasurit (BASF) and the final process included a wet sand treatment.

I ordered P21S Carnauba Wax yesterday along with the paintwork cleanser. Haven't tried this product before but after reading about it thought I'd give it a try.

I'd appreciate your views and suggestions.

Regards, Dave

Hey Dave,

Welcome to Autopia. I think you will find this site to be a wealth of information and knowledge.

Whoa! Beautiful Jag Dave! Welcome to Autopia!

Even as a boy, I always dreamed of owning a E Type convertible, (white, black top with wire spoke wheels). My dream got lost in the blur of life somewhere, but in recent months I've found myself seriously thinking about it again. Seeing your Jag and some classic Jags posted by one of our Aussie members really brings home that longing!

Good to have you here as an Autopian, look forward to seeing you post, especially if they include more images of your Jag!

Mike

Can you post some Pics in click and brag Jon?

I'd REALLY enjoy seeing your 63' E-type, the only other car I'd like as own as much would be an XK-SS, but thats not going to happen! :lol

Did the 63's still have the 3.8L and alloy dash, like on the originals?

HI folks,

I apologise for that photo. I did try to do better but it was a no go. Yesterday I posted that same photo in the Member's Gallery under the user name 'Montfort' and referring to a sunbathing cat -1964 Series 1 XKE (E-type). Used about 300k on that one so the definition is better.

Just posted another pic in the gallery showing the car still sitting in the paintshop - done. Kindly ignore those 41 year old wheels...new ones on there now.

This car was made in June 1963 and yes it does have the 3.8 engine and an aluminum center console and center dash.

Look forward to chatting and learning.

Thanks, Dave
