Just tried Optimums No Rinse (ONR) for the first time. Review inside.

Does anyone have a link to that scottwax thread. I have read his "how i wash cars thread" but not the "in process" ONR thread.

Jim

I describe exactly how I use ONR in that thread.

My neighbors are amaze at how I wash my car so well using 2-3 gallons of water without suds and without water run-off... Of course, you guys know my secret ingredient..

Love the ONR! Winter washes are what got me started, the shine and reduced wash time keep me using it.

I hate ONR because after my wife saw how easy it was to use never lets me get away with the excuse....."But honey, I'm tired and it takes to long to wash your car!"

She'll say, "It will only take you 15 minutes with that No Rinse stuff!!"

Stinking No Rinse has ruined my life:hairpull

You lucky SOB, sometimes my wife thinks 15 minutes is too long! Though the fastest I can do is 20, and her car takes longer cause it's an SUV and I have to climb in to reach the roof.

My neighbors are only amazed that anyone wants to wash their car every week! I think my 3 year old misses the big puddle at the bottom of the driveway; he used to float toy boats in it while I washed.

It certainly works better than a soapy solution. Since you dry each panel after making your passes with onr, less time for it to dwell. The last time I used a conventional wash was in direct sun, as I had no choice. Kept getting side tracked and had water spots all over. At least with onr, if you keep getting interrupted, you can dry the panel your working on and take care of business. I did one onr wash in the driveway today and one in the garage. I still prefer to have shade though. I have well over a gallon of Gold Class and it will last me forever now that I've used onr. I'll need another gallon of it before long.

I was thinking about ordering some. How is it in heat/sunlight?

I think he's referring to the thread I talked about.... someone was bickering with you whether or not ONR worked good on really dirty cars since he said it's only good on moderately clean cars... a few posts into the thread, you posted a few pictures of people's trucks/ vans with an ONR cleaned panel on one side and the regular/ pre-ONR (dirty) side of the car. It was also the thread with pictures of someone's van after polishing and a picture after several months of ONR washes to show no marring..... I too couldn't find that thread, but I'd love to see those pictures again and bookmark it this time so *I* can show all the naysayers how it's done :-D

In my opinion, it doesn't do very well in direct sunlight. I have a Black Accord, and had it sitting out in my driveway last week on a sunny day, about 75 degrees. It must have been out there for an hour or so. When I first dipped my sponge and then applied it to my hood, I literally saw steam or something that looked like steam coming off of my hood where I put the pad down. Think hot pad going straight from the stove to the sink. Same effect almost! Once I saw that, I saw fit to move the car into the garage. I waited a half an hour for it to cool down, and then washed it with 0 problems. That said, this may only be an issue with a black car in direct sunlight.

To be honest though, I would rather do it in my garage anyway and plan on doing so going forward. I really do love ONR, I wish I would have found it sooner.
